Chapter 2: Aren't we all average?

"Hey..." I said as I looked down to the floor trying not to make eye contact.

He lifted my chin up making me have eye contact with him.

"Finish the project. Okay?" he smiled as I scoffed.

"Ya..." I said as he waved and walked away with his friends.

"Wow that jerk..." I shook my head as the bell rang.

I ran to my second period with Mr. Ells my Teacher assistance period which was located in the basement. I walked in late as I walked over to the table setting my backpack down. Iman was also a Teachers assistance with me during this period.

"Hey Leesa"  Iman said setting her saxophone down with her backpack.

"What's up Iman?" I said figuring out how to do the math project.

"Nothing. Dude I'm starving. What are you doing?" she said sitting down.

"I have some sandwiches in my backpack if you want one. I'm working on my math project. Guess who I got paired up with?" I asked her as she dug through my backpack.

"No way. Josh?" she asked as I nodded.

She smacked my arm.

"Good then this is a perfect time for you two to bond and get to know each other more" she said taking a bite out of the sandwich.

"No...not good. He's kind of a jerk" I said as she looked at me while tilting her head.

"Why do you say that?" she asked.

"Because he wants me to finish this project on my own. He's trying to use me" I said as I continued to write down some notes.

"That jerk. Do the project alone then and tell the teacher that you worked on it alone" she said throwing the sandwich wrapper in the trash can.

"I can't. The teacher forced us all to do it with our partners" I said as I sighed.

"Then tell him to get his butt to work with you" she said taking out her book.

I laughed as Mr. Ells walked over.

"I need you guys to grade these packets please and thank you" he said as we both nodded.

Me and Iman put our things away and spent the whole class time grading and listening to our musics as we concentrated. The bell rang as we both walked up to our third periods with all of our friends in there.

"Iman!" Brejea shouted as she hugged Iman.

"Hey Leesa" Reyma and Coco said as they walked over to me.

"Guess what?" Reyma said as I gave a curious look at Coco.

"What?" I asked.

"Someone asked Coco out today" Reyma said as she smiled.

"Who was it??" I asked Coco.

"Guess..." Coco said as I knew exactly who it was.

"Efrain your husband you had a crush on since elementary school ?" I asked as she nodded.

"No freakin way dude congrats!" I shouted as we all laughed.

Mr. Solano finally came to the classroom unlocking the door. We all walked in as we all sat in our assigned seats. We all finished taking the notes from his lecture.
