*Dominic*
Pacing outside the door was doing nothing to help ease the anxious feeling in the pit of my stomach. "Dom, just take a seat and wait. They're doing the best they can right now to get a diagnosis." my mom said sitting in a chair beside my father. They clenched hands tightly, knuckles turning white. I would do anything to be able to old my mates hands again.
I rolled my eyes. "Well I think they aren't trying hard enough," I growled angrily, ", if they were doing their best they would've helped her by now. They sure helped that stupid rogue who wondered into our territory quick enough." he said, regarding the rogue who was now staying in the holding cells in the lowest level of the council building.
"You should know better than that Dominic, seeing how your own mate was once a rogue herself." my father said angrily. "She was not! She was a wanderer. She was lost." I defended harshly. "And this guy is crazy. He comes raging into our pack grounds bloody and yelling for his sister. He could be infected for all we know, but you guys think he's just dandy, don't you." I said getting angrier and angrier.
We had been waiting to hear back from the pack doctors for two hours by now and my patience was growing thinner by the moment. Silence from the other side of the door didn't do me any justice. The only option I had was to wait and pray to the gods that she was going to be fine.
"I swear I'm going to kill the idiot doctor who said that the rogue he was working on was more important than my mate. More important?" I yelled, causing my parents to cringe. I just hoped that the doctor could hear me say that. Let him fear for his life.
I froze in my tracks when I heard a horrible scream rip out from Starlett's throat. Nearly breaking down the door I burst into the room and shoved the team of doctors out of my way. Starlett was covered in sweat, her body contorting uncomfortably. "It burns! I'm burning!" she screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks. The doctors looked at each other dumbfounded and confused as to what they should do.
I ran up the the bed and picked her up in my arms, carrying her to the bathroom. I twisted on the cold water in the shower and then sat down with Star in my arms, her head resting on my chest. She sobbed heavily and turned her face away from the water as she buried her head into my chest.
I smoothed down her soaked hair that was now plastered on her cheek. "It's okay Star. I'm gonna make the pain go away." I said shutting my eyes in order to stop tears of my own from mixing with the water. "I've got you. It's going to be alright."
I wrapped my arms tightly around her and hugged her tightly. He her body shook every time she took a breath to continue crying. And for that moment. I let myself cry too. I held that beautiful girl in my arms and I took on the pain that she felt and I cried too.
She whispered something inaudible to me so I reached up and turned off the water. "What did you say Star?" I said shakily. I tilted her head up, wiping away the tears and the water off her face. "Adam. It's Adam."
I looked at my parent who stood in the doorway of the bathroom, each of our faces mimicking the same emotions. Shock and confusion.
So how did you guys like it? I know it's a bit lame and short but it's just a pick me up chapter to get me back itno the swing of things so tell me what you think! Your opinions are so important to me.
