The Mischievous Shakespeare

(Chapter 1: Hiddlestoned)

"Aaah, a new beginning…. A new me…" I wonder as I am looking out of the plane window after the air crew announced that it is time for us to prepare for landing.

Hi, my name is Iris and I am from Malaysia. After a painful breakup with my someone I thought was the love of my life, I manage to get myself a scholarship to further my study in the University of Westminster, London. Yes, London. Nobody would've imagined my luck when I was offered a place in the country I had forever wanted to visit. Let alone stay. Despite the countless arguments I had with my parents, they finally gave in. Well, apart of the prestigious university and rare opportunity excuse that (obviously) are the main point which sold the adults over, one of the main reason why I picked Westminster is to take a risk in love. Hoping that I will meet the one… or at best… my Tom Hiddleston.

Flashback

"BUT BRIAN!!" I shouted in rejection as my then love of my life told me that he will be off for some company outing AGAIN… Look, I am not being clingy but when your lover is going off for company outing every 2 weeks, it must get you thinking. I kept on telling myself to trust him until my best friend, Julian was transferred to a sister company.

"Holy Bullocks! No!!!... I am always here no??" he exclaimed! He then further tell me that Brian quit his job a month ago.

My heart sank. Finally, everything made sense. The frequent outings and "I'm broke" excuses was all because of this other girl.

I blink as tears start to fill my eyes again. I shook my head, shaking all these thoughts away. It's been 3 months, but the wounds are still fresh in my head. I have to be strong. That is why I am here… to start over. To forget about my past.

Yellow luggage… yellow luggage…. HUGE YELLOW LUGGAGE… Kept reminding myself to look out for my luggage at the luggage claim. When finally a huge yellow luggage come by, I did not hesitate and just drag it off the conveyor belt and took off with my mind still floating on my past.

My apartment, The View, is only 15 minutes away from the airport, at Palace Street … a place which I have to share with 3 other girls whom I had not met. The landlady, Mrs. Stromberg was some what friendly, the typical (slightly plump) over 40-ish woman with over done make up. She talks like she was singing. As I was zoning out to my very own Sound of Music moment, she lets out a high pitch scream which sounded like ,"Eeek!?" and I immediately shift back my attention to her like an obedient kid.

"Now now young lady," she speaks while fiddling her fingers like there are some invisible wand. "Let's see… this is the common area… the kitchen…………….."

I zone out again as I was tailing her huge shadow around the huge huge apartment until I hear another high pitch squeak which sounded like, "And here, this is your room… your housemates don't seemed to be around at the moment but I am very sure that you will meet Kaleen, Jules and Darcy soon. I had already informed them about your arrival"

Picture this, I had never seen a room this big before. Thank god for scholarships and allowances, it is all paid for. All I had to only worry about my daily meals. As I lower my luggage and backpack, I hug Mrs Stromberg thanks. Her huge shadow soon disappeared from my doorstep.
