Brandon POV

I hear a noise coming from downstairs. Whatever it is, I'll protect her. She doesn't deserve what has happened to her. She thinks that I don't know about her family's history, but really she has forgotten everything to do with me, she thought Naomi was her first ever friend, but she's wrong...because it was me.

A few years ago, she had an accident, I never knew what it was but I think it had to do with her dad. The accident involved a lot of memory loss. This was before she met Alex. She knew Naomi for a few days. While she was recovering, I visited her every day in the hospital, but the doctors thought that it would be a bad idea for me and her to see each other, which just started to kill me even more. We decided this because the one time when we saw each other, she was happy and excited, but when I left she started to freak out and panic. The next morning I heard about it, so they thought that I reminded her too much of the accident.

So we arranged for us to stay away from each other...until a couple of days a go, when I couldn't help but walk over and talk to her. To me she looked to vulnerable, I felt the need to protect her, even though she didn't need it. I'm still recovering from what happened that night.

Anyways, I head downstairs with Emily behind my back. I take her hand and interlock my fingers with her. I can feel her eyes on me but I keep my focus on where we are headed. Soon enough, someone calls her name, my head immediately turns towards the noise. I can see Emily is facing me, she really doesn't want to face whoever it is right now.

I start to lead her away again, but this time the person shouts, "Oi missy, where do you think you're going?". The person says, storming around the corner. It's her step-dad! As he approaches Emily I pull her behind me and stand tall against him. I don't care what it takes, I am not letting him hurt her...ever again.

He looks up at me, I can see in his eye that he still remembers the incident. He takes a step back.

"Who's your friend?" He asks Emily. She doesn't say anything, I can feel her head against my back.

"I think we both know that you know who I am!" I say to him. He doesn't reply, instead he just turns around and starts to walk away. But in a quick moment he turns around and swings a punch towards me. I blocked him and threw a quick punch to his stomach, not intending to injure him. It was more of a reflex.

He bends over, holding the pain I just injected him with. That gives us a few minutes to leave.

"Go" I say to Emily. She starts to walk away, our hands still interlocked. I walk backwards and then spin on my feet. We walk towards my car. I take her stuff from her and place them in the boot of my car as she climbs in. I jog to the drivers seat and get in the car. I turn the engine on and back out of the driveway.

Emily's POV

"What was that?" I ask him as soon as we're away from my driveway. I avoid looking at him. He doesn't say anything, he just sighs. I don't bother asking him again. I just lean my head on the window and watch as the trees go past me, wondering about the future.

I didn't even realise that I started to cry until I feel a tear run down my hand. Suddenly we come to a halt, we must be here.

I look up and see that we are just parked on the outside of a road. I start to feel nervous.

"Look, we need to talk" Brandon turns to me.

"About?" I respond not looking up, knowing that he will see the tear stains if I do.

"The past!" He tells me. I finally look up at him, ignoring how I look.

"What?" I say, "Right here?"
