  ❀

the house was dark and empty, ready for a new family to invade its walls. my fingers ran across the markings where my grandma had measured my height every month. i was gonna miss it here, in our tiny town of only 200 people. a friendly town where everyone knew each other.

"we need to go, honey!" my grandma called, running into the house. she stopped once she saw me and smiled. i felt her arm snake around my shoulder and we both looked around one last time. "i know its hard, mandy, but we can make new memories in hollywood."

i placed my head on her shoulder and we walked out into the sunlight. the truck was parked outside, packed with our belongings which had been stored in boxes and suitcases. i slipped into the passenger seat whilst my grandma sat behind the steering wheel.

"are you sure you're ready?" she asked, placing her hand on my knee. i nodded and she started the engine. my eyes were locked on the house until it disappeared around a corner. as we got further into town, people waved us off, shouting encouraging things like good luck and kick some hollywood ass

the beech grove sign came into view, indicating that we were really moving on from our small life in a small town. now, we were aiming for the big leagues and that all started with moving to LA.

goodbye kentucky, hello hollywood!
