“Laura, do you know anything of The City of Amber?” he asks incredulously.
“I’ve never even heard of it”
“Where’s your father” he demands
“He should be on his way from the city” I say
Ethan turns around and continues making the spaghetti as if nothing has happened.
“Shouldn’t be long” he mutters under his breath.
“Wha-”
I’m cut off by the the door getting thrown open by my furious dad.
“Why the hell are you here Ethan?” My dad moves through the kitchen in a fast paced walk.
Ethan moves from the stove and faces my dad squaring his shoulders and looking up at him.
“You tell me Robert” Ethan looks my dad in the eyes.
“You have no place here Ethan, I specifically told you to stay away”
“You stopped responding to our messages so I passed by” he turns around and continues stirring the sauce in the pan.
My dad sighs “There was a reason I stopped responding to the messages”
“What reason Robert?” Ethan crosses his arms and looks at my dad.
My dad spins around and looks at me with grief “It’s getting too dangerous for Laura.”
Ethan is looking at me with concern and turns to look at my dad with accusing eyes
“She should know by now Robert! You can’t keep her in the dark anymore”
“What are you guys talking about” I ask in concern
“Nothing honey, I think it's best to forget” my dad moves around the island towards me and reaches out with his hand.
The moment he touches my head I fall into darkness.
