"I have a secret..." I bit my lip.
"And that secret is.... I have a boyfriend."
In any normal situation, I would have expected a reply. Maybe a gasp? A squeal, even. But, this wasn't a normal situation. I was talking to a camera.
"And he's in this room with me, so COME ON OVER DUDE!" I bounced excitedly. Jack twirled around on his spinny chair into the frame with a villianous expression, before he doubled over in laughter.
"Yeah, it's this guy," I rolled my eyes with a smile as he straigtened up.
"Hello there, my name is Jack Harries and I love Beth Stark so," and he added with eyebrows furrowed and a daring gaze into the camera, "back off."
"Oh hush," I began to laugh.
"So basically, we made this video to officially announce and put all the rumors to rest," Jack added in.
"And, of course, to do THE BOYFRIEND TAGGGG!"
~~~
"Is it finished yet?" Jack asked me and looked over my shoulder to see the laptop, regarding the editing of my video.
"Just about getting ready to upload," I craned my neck and gave him a smile. He wore the exact same expression. The fact that all this crap was clearing up and we could finally be together the way we wanted was exciting.
Jack poured our cups of tea and made his way over to me, snuggling in close as we watched the video finish uploading. We stared at the uploading bar in silence.
When the video uploaded, we breathed a sigh of relief in unison.
After 5 minutes, the comments flooded in through Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram almost instantly.
Almost every one was positive.
I couldn't believe it. We could finally have a relationship, just us, no worries. It was like a huge weight was lifted off of my chest.
I turned up to look at Jack and found him already looking at me with a smile on his face.
"I love you, Beth," he grinned.
"I love you too, Jack."
FINN'S POV
I fidgeted in my spot on the roof, trying to get comfortable so I could think, but nothing came of it. I sighed in annoyance. I decided to get off the roof. Thinking wasn't what I needed to do at the moment, I needed to escape my thoughts.
I decscended the rooftop and made my way out of the house, pulling my jacket closer to me. I probably should have grabbed a coat or maybe an umbrella. Rain threatened to spill out of the clouds at any moment.
Zoe called to ask if I was okay, and I wasn't sure how to answer.
Am I okay?
Not exactly sure.
The thing that startled me was that after Beth ended things, I felt okay. Sure, I was sad. I loved her. I still do love her. We had good times. We're good friends.
That's the thing. I thought that it would be easier to be friends with Beth.
So the reason I'm not okay, is because I'm okay.
When Beth ended things, I was crushed. I returned home completely knackered and spent the night up on the roof, and once morning came, I was okay. I felt fine. I expected to be drowning my sorrows in alcohol or not being able to function, but I felt fine.
She obviously made the right decision.
I snapped out of my reverie when I remembered that I was walking. I wasn't exactly too sure of my destination, but my heart carried me to Perks, the old coffeeshop Beth and I found.
Once the shop was in my line of sight, the rain started to come.
I pulled up my hood and started jogging up to the door, to escape the rain and the memories.
The bell atop the door jingled as I walked in and pulled down my hood, running my fingers through my hair.
"Ouch!" I hear a muffled shout and a crash. Pans clash together and the sound of broken glass echoes from the kitchen.
"Are you alright?" I find myself asking, raising my voice slightly. No one else seems to be in the shop besides us.
"I'm alright, I'm alright," I hear a muffled laugh and the sound of her getting up. She must've fell. "I'll be out to help you in a minute!" She adds.
I chuckled and make my way over to the dining area.
As I walked to the tables, I passed the door to the kitchen, which unexpectedly flung open as I passed.
The blow hit me straight on the forehead, knocking me down and leaving me slightly dazed for a few moments.
"Aw crap, I'm so sorry! Let me help you with that," she bent down, but on the way, knocked down a tray that sat on the table next to us. A teapot clattered to the ground, but didn't break.
She turned to face me with a dropped jaw and bright pink cheeks, before we both burst into laughter.
In light of all the chaos, I never got a good look at her, but now I got an eyeful. She was stunning, even in her Perks uniform, a short brown dress with a white apron.
Her brown hair laid in a long braid that cascaded all the way down to her stomach, and her skin was warm- a lighter brown that reminded me of warm and cozy things like hot chocolate and autumn weather.
Her deep brown eyes seemed to light up with laughter, and I could spot dimples in her smile.
"I'm so sorry," she tried to calm down, "I shouldn't be laughing, I just hurt you, oh gosh!"
I laughed as she stumbled with her words. "Are you alright?" She added.
"I'm fine, don't worry about it," I smiled back.
"The day a cute boy comes in, of course I hit him with a door," she mumbled and tried to pick up the teapot which laid a couple feet away.
"Ah, so you think I'm cute now?" I challenged with a cheeky grin.
"Wait, what? Oh my gosh, did I just say that out loud?" She face-palmed.
"You did, but I'm pretty sure I'm okay with that," I replied and watched the pink tint creep back up on her cheeks.
I used the chair next to me as a rest and pulled myself up. She still sat on the ground, so I reached a hand out and helped her up.
We were close now, and I could hardly breathe as she continued to study me as I was to her.
"What's your name?" She asked me suddenly."Finn," I replied, "and yours?"
"Annie," she smiled warmly back.
Annie.
Maybe I'll end up being more than okay.
