I reached for the door handle. It was cold and wet from the horrible winter weather. The rain was continuous, never ending. I entered the coffee shop, expecting to see my friends there. I searched, surveying the shop: elderly's, screeching children and stressed out parents, chasing their children to tell them their leaving. I suddenly spotted my friends, looking absolutely soaked from the rain, just like myself. I walked over and greeted them. It was our 'weekly' catch up. There's me, Ellie, Charlotte, Meg and Kim. We have all been friends since secondary school.
"Hey Guys!" I said cheerfully, the complete opposite mood to the weather.
"Hiya, do you want some coffee?" replied Ellie with her cheesy grin.
"Yeah, I will go get some. Anyone else want some?" I asked, aimed at the group.
"No thanks" they all replied.
I made my way to the counter. I stood there looking at the notice board of special offers when a waitor slowly entered my field of view.
"Hi, can I help you, Madam?" he said this with a shy yet cute sort of voice. Quite shakey and not knowing what to say to me.
"Hey, yes please. Can I have a skinny latte please?" I replied, feeling quite nervous at the way he just starred at me.
"Sure, coming right up! I shall bring it over to you!" He said less awkwardly and with a cute half smile.
"Aw, thankyou!" I said.
I trekked my way back to my seat, trying to avoid tripping over a toddler or any toys they may have left lying around.
"What took you so long, Katie?" Kim asked me with her obvious sarcastic voice.
"Oh you know, the usual. Dodging flying nappies and small escapees." I said back to her, making it blaitently obvious that I knew she was being sarcastic.
Kim went back to drinking her coffee, then I felt the presence of a tall stranger begind me. I turned to see the shy face I had only just seen 2 minutes before. He placed the coffee on the table gently.
"There you go, enjoy!" He said smiling down at me.
"Thankyou very much!" I replied maybe a bit too eagerly, leaving him smiling uncontrollably as he walked off back to the counter to serve someone.
"Ooooh, somone likes you!" said Ellie, with one eyebrow raised.
"Oh shush, I don't even know the guy. For all I know, he could be a mass murderer!" I said objectively.
"Mmmhmm." said everyone. Then going back to drinking their steaming hot coffees.
We gossiped for a couple of hours until we had to depart. We are all doing completely different things and took different career paths, we can only catch up when we have a time slot free. Meg is training to be a vet, Kim is training to become a primary school teacher, Ellie is training to be a lawyer, Charlotte is training to enter the Navy and I am training to become a professional dancer and I am currently modelling wherever I can.
We hugged and waved eachother goodbye and went our seperate ways. I legged it to my car and slumped into my seat and closed the door. It was nice to catch up with my best friends and chat like we used to. Chatting about guys and the good old times.
I put my car into gear and made my way home.
