Chapter 8: Court

Alanna's POV:

"Hey Liam, Wake up." I said. 

"What do you want?" Liam said.

"Sorry it's time to get up." I said.

"Sorry for getting mad at you.I love you Anna, but why are we getting up at 6:30 babe. It Saturday and there is no school my love." Liam said nicely.

" Today is the first day of court. For the rape of all us girls. Knowing how much we will get for child support." I said

" Oh right the first day of the trial for the rapes of the four of you. We also find out about the child support he will have to pay you per month. I am nervous about the babies during the trial" Liam Said.

" Liam, That's why you are going with me to the trial with me. I cant afford to work and raise three children and go to school." I said while i started getting ready

Alanna's POV in the Court:

I was so scared on the stand. I wanted Jim to pay for raping videoing and me it and selling for money. As the babies were kicking.

"Alanna, It's going to be okay sweetie" said Liam.

"I know it will be okay babe" I said.

"I love them even if Jim's the bio dad" I said to Liam quietly.

Then the trial started as the bailiff started to talk to the courtroom.

Court POV:

The Bailiff said all rise. Wait for everyone-except the judge- to stand. Department one of the Superior Court is now in session. Judge Simmons presiding. Please be seated.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the People of the State of South Carolina versus Jim O'Brian. Are both sides ready?" said Judge Simmons.

"The defendant in front of today is being charged and tried with four counts of sexual conduct in the first and second degree, and one count of Sexual exploitation. "Said the Clerk

"Ready for the People, Your Honor. "Said District Attorney.

"Ready for the defense, Your Honor." Said Public Defender.

"Will the clerk please swear in the jury? "Said the Judge.

"Will the jury please stand and raise your right hand? Wait for everyone to stand. Do each of you swear that you will fairly try the case before this court, and that you will return a true verdict according to the evidence and the instructions of the court, so help you, God? Please say, "I do". Wait for jurors to say, "I do." You may be seated." Said the Clerk.

"Stand up and talk to the jury. Your Honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: the defendant has been charged with the crime Sexual assault. The evidence will show that for three years and half years the defendant has raped four teenage girls. All the teenage girls were held and repeatedly raped and forced to get pregnant. The defendant was arrested after the DNA of each teenage mother who was raped, babies DNA was a match to the defendant. The evidence I present will prove to you that the defendant is guilty as charged." Said the Deputy DA.

"Stand up and talk to the jury. Your Honor and ladies and gentlemen of the jury: under the law my client is presumed innocent until proven guilty. During this trial, you will hear no real evidence against my client. You will come to know the truth: that Jim had consensual sex with each of the teenage girls. After finding out that the first girl was pregnant, Jim was afraid. She was known as player but a girl one. Therefore my client is not guilty." Said Public Defender.
