Hi guys xx I'm really sorry but I've just not been feeling this story. I've had a lot on my mind lately, and as a result I've decided to close this story here. I'm posting this as a final chapter, so hopefully it can offer a bit of closure?? It's not much, or very good, but at least it's something. Again, I'm really sorry. There are two things I might do though, 1) post bonus parts in my one-shot series, or 2) carry this on at a later date. Until then though, adios, and thank you all so much for reading and giving me such positive feedback :)

It was four in the afternoon before Dan even thought to drag himself out of bed. He'd needed the rest after last nights escapades, in all honesty. As he lay there, the bright afternoon sun dazzling him through the gap in his curtains, he thought about all the crazy things that had happened in the last few weeks. He'd been tattooed, kisses for the first time, fallen out with his best friend turned boyfriend and watched the sunrise multiple times cuddled up with the gangly black haired rebel from next door. As much as it was a cliche, maybe opposites did really attract. Dan could almost laugh at what a fool he was being.

Suddenly the doorbell rang, and before he could even get up his mum was at the door, talking to someone. He knew instantly it was Phil, by the jumpy high's and lows in his voice, and by the way he then proceeded to walk up the stairs, three at a time. Dan rolled his eyes, of course Phil could walk up stairs three at a time. Suddenly Phil was in the room, staring around at his newly put up rainbow fairy lights and posters. " 'S changed," he grunted, and Dan giggled before pushing him out the room. "Let me get changed, I wasn't expecting you!" And the door closed in Phil's face. Phil smiled to himself, he liked surprising Dan.

Moments later the door opened again, and Dan stood there, in black ripped jeans and an LA Devotee shirt. He was changing up his style a bit, Phil noted. Dan threw himself down on his bed and Phil swiftly joined him. "Care to tell me why you're in my room on a peaceful Saturday afternoon?" The brunet asked, and Phil winked conspiratorially. "I know I said we could do whatever you wanted to do, but I think I know some place you'd like to go. I'm taking you out." This was all the information he was ready to share, apparently, and within moments he had hauled Dan up by a pair of bony wrists, and carried him bridal style down the stairs. Phil set him down, called goodbye to Dan's family and stepped outside. Dan followed him, and as Phil pulled aside he was greeted by a pale blue car parked just off the driveway.
On cue, it's lights clicked on and Dan gasped.

"The hell? Are you even allowed to drive? Did you steal it? What's going on?" Was all he managed to stutter out, before Phil shushed him. "Firstly, don't swear, it doesn't sound good on your pretty little lips-" he was cut off by Dan pushing him and laughing, "secondly, no one has to know how old I am, and lastly, I rented it with my false ID and they totally bought into it. Well be fine. Now are you getting in or not?" Dan almost tripped in his haste to get in and see where they were going. Phil grinned softly to himself, started the engine and began to drive.

After nearly an hour of driving, they were both beginning to get hungry. A roadside diner came in to view after another mile or so after their realisation. They both ordered chips to go, and within moments they were back in the car, and Dan had finally accepted that he was being blindly driven to god knows where. Part of him didn't quite trust Phil, but the rest of him told him to enjoy the ride while it lasted. They drove until dusk with the windows down and Metallica blaring. Dan had put up a token fuss about the music, but they both know that deep down, Dan enjoyed classic rock almost as much as Phil.

They pulled off the road and into a clearing a few miles from the road they're on. After a bumpy ride over some short grass they both got out at the same time, and Phil gestured for Dan to look up at the darkening sky.

"I come here sometimes when I can't sleep, you know, on my bike," Phil said softly as he sat on the hood of the car. Dan joins him.

"There's this great big line of stars and-"

"That's called the Milky Way."

"I knew that," Phil answers defensively.

"Sure you did."

"I did! You made me forget what I was saying now," and Dan laughs, sweet and high pitched, the perfect contrast to the insects chirping in the grass.

They fell into a comfortable silence for a few moments while the sky darkened some more. More and more stars became visible with each passing second, and Dan was awed by just how many he could see.

"It's beautiful out here," Phil says softly, as though he was afraid that his voice would shatter the moment. "I wanted you to see."

Dan tore his eyes away from the sky above him to look at his boyfriend. He saw some of the stars above reflected in Phil's eyes. "You're beautiful."

Dean looked at him and swallowed. For a second, Dan thinks that Phil is going to lean in and kiss him or profess his undying love for him or ask him to marry him. "Shut up," is all Phil says.

Dan laughed, and they sat there for the rest of the night in silence as the inky blackness faded to the purples and pinks of dawn.

"My sleeping habits are all messed up because you keep forcing me to watch all these sunrises..." Dan started, in mock annoyance. Phil just grinned. "I know you love me really, sunrises and all," and maybe, just maybe, the tiny brunet with stars on his wrists, stars in his eyes, and stars in his mind, did.
