Young Heroics Ep.1- "The Beginning"

[Setting: observatory]

(Two people face each other in battle)

Solar-man: I won't let you get away with this Darkren.

Darkren: What a cliché thing for a hero to say. Even more since costume-wearing freaks like you have been popping up more as conflict has arrived.

Solar-Man: Look, I understand you're angry, but is crashing the moon into the planet really a way to honor your wife?

(Moon inches closer to the planet)

Darkren: I wouldn't have to do this if this world hadn't taken her away, so I'll make this planet and all its people suffer.

Solar-Man: Sorry, but I won't let that happen.

(Solar-Man flies to the moon to push it back, but struggles)

Darkren: No, not again.

(Both Darkren and Solar-Man clash into each other, ending in a flash of light)

15 Years Later

(A young teenager named Blake wakes up)

Blake: It's already time for school? Sheesh.

(Checks his phone to notice it was the day of his final exams for the semester)

Blake: Ah man, I didn't even study... Well I'll make up for it. We read three different novels but I can't find those notes I took.

(Phone begins to ring. Notices it's his best friend Ky)

Blake: Hello?

Ky: Hey dude. Since it's the finals, that girl Claire you been crushing on is hosting a party after the tests. You should go.

Blake: I don't know man. After school I'm heading to Dad's research lab. He's letting me see that site where those two super-powered guys fought fifteen years ago. They are the reason why super-heroes are so active today.

Ky: You know- that's why you're single. It's cool to like science, but it's your senior year and you've never been to a party.

Blake: ... I'll think about it, alright? If I get bored of the science institute I'll swing by, but I highly doubt I'll be in the mood to go.

(Blake walks down the stairs to see his parents working on a weird machine)

Blake: Dad you've been working on that thing for month. What the hell is it supposed to do anyways?

Professor Miles: It's supposed to give humans super-speed. Imagine someone who could move faster then the speed of sound!

Blake: Dad, we have too many people who can do that. Every time I go to school there's at least one superhero battle outside.

Professor Miles: Son, I know that. But... this could be a big step in science and can benefit anyone.

Mary: Well Blake, get ready for school. This device is going to be at your father's event. You're still going, right?

Blake: Yeah, I'll be there.

(Blake walks out)

Professor Miles: I wonder why he's been such a downer lately...

Mary: I don't know... I thought he would be excited to see that site were Solar-Man disappeared. He was his favorite hero as child.

(Cuts to scene where Blake is at school talking to Ky)

Blake: My dad? All he does is work on that machine like it's going to work. We tried it time and time again with no progress. It'll never work! We've been doing this for years.

Ky: Gotta have faith, dude. Your dad is working on an electron accelerator. That could make you guys millionaires.

Blake: I know... But I might just ditch the exhibit today. He does one of these every week anyway. So when's that party again?

Ky: Dude, you can make both. The party starts at 10 and the exhibit is at 7:30, so just leave at 9:30.

Blake: That's actually a good idea. Congrats, you're getting smarter every day.

(Blake's crush, Claire, walks by)

Claire: Hey Blake, Ky. I hope you guys can make it tonight.

Blake: *nervously* Um... yeah, wouldn't miss it.

Ky: Definitely, we're going! Heck, Blake was about to miss it.

Claire: Oh, is it because of your father's showing of the electron accelerator?

Blake: Um, yeah, but it will be kinda short so I'll leave early.

Claire: That's great! So, see you at ten.

(Claire walks away and Blake punches Ky)

Blake: Jerk. She didn't need to know.

Ky: Whatever, man.

(Bell rings)

[Cuts to scene at the exhibit]

(Blake at the exhibit watching his father's experiment)

Professor Miles: Now, it's time for me to unveil my newest invention- the electron accelerator!

Blake: *in low voice* This isn't really the best time for Dad to have his speech, Mom.

Mary: Why?

Blake: I heard that those weird seismic quakes that have been occurring recently tamper with technology.

Mary: I doubt they will happen any time soon.

Professor Miles: Now, for a demonstration.

(Professor activates machine, but a huge quake suddenly rocks the building)

Blake: Mom, you have to get everyone out of here!

(Machine goes off and blasts Blake in the back with full force while Mary and the rest evacuate the people in the building)

Mary: Blake's still in there! Someone get him!

(Firemen and police rush out with an unconscious Blake)
