You cannot believe the seeming ignorance of everyone around you. Gray was gone, and not a single soul asked. The constant thought was that he must be on a job, he must be out with the others. Natsu, Lucy, Wendy, Erza, and Happy were not here either, but they were actually on a job.

You sighed, hurrying out of the guild house. A girl without any actual talent in magic, you helped Mira at the bar. It was winter in Magnolia, and the sky was dressed with gray clouds that cried white snow. As you tied your scarf around your neck, you can't help but be fascinated by how your breath clouds in the cold air. It's a wonder how it happens, but the weather only makes you think about the ice wizard that you set out to find.

You don't dare call out for him. It's not because you're afraid, but because the atmosphere of the town is telling you that one voice will ruin the freezing calmness. There is nobody outside; windows are closed and snow builds up in front of doors. You're beginning to grow cold too, and you wonder if Gray is. The thought makes you feel stupid, considering the stories you've heard about his training. In the snow mountains, stripped to boxers, he was built and shaped to this environment; not to mention he has the magical ability to manifest and control ice.

Training! That's right! You turned swiftly, not realizing that there was a wet patch of frozen water beside your feet, and you take a plummet towards the ground. A strong arm wrapped around your waist and pulls you up, and you scramble away from the person, nearly falling again. It's Gray.

He's bundled up in a long white coat and black pants, but he has no equipment on that a normal person would wear to battle the cold, like a beanie or scarf.

"Be careful." He doesn't look at you, but he's staring off into the distance that you had turned towards.

"Right, thanks." You give a reassuring smile, "Thankfully, I'm not hurt."

"What're you doing outside of the Guild house? Our inventory is full so you don't have to worry about shopping, you live in the Guild's apartments, and you don't go out on jobs." His question made you think.

What were you doing? Yes you were going to find Gray, but.. why? Why did you feel the need to find where he was? Or even what he was doing?

"Well.. I was curious where you were." You had to answer truthfully. If he got angry, he could set off like he did when Natsu was around. You didn't have the abilities to protect yourself if that happened.

"Why me?"

"I.. don't know." You shrugged, your breath billowing in the air as you exhaled, "Part of me was worried.. You didn't go out on a job, and you haven't been in the Guild building except to say a quick 'hi' before leaving again. It's unlike you."

"Today is just a different day." He responded, still not looking at you.

"Today has to do with your teacher, doesn't it?" You asked, your hands clasped together as their hung in front of your legs, "I only remember from your stories."

His eyes darkened a little, and you gulped in nervousness, "I'm sorry if I traveled into a dangerous topic, you don't--"

"No [Y/N], you're fine." Gray shook his head, "Would you like to come with me to the cemetery to honor her?" His gaze finally rested on you.

You smiled in an attempt to comfort him and nodded, "I would love to." As you two began walking together, you looked at him, "I'm not going to ask where you came from, today at least."

He draped his white coat over your shoulders, a black undershirt now covering his torso. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder and smiled. It wasn't like his usual grin, but within the freezing air; it warmed you.

"I won't ask you either."
