Newt - Time Turner

"Grandma..."

"Yes dear?"

"Where did you get a Time Turner? I thought they were just a work of fiction. And why is it broken?"

"I got this from an old professor of mine. Please don't mess around with it. Let's just say that I had to learn the hard way, but through this I met your grandfather."

"Mum, are you about to tell a story?" The older woman gave a small nod to her daughter as she brought her youngest child to her lap.

"Seeing as you've asked about my Time Turner, I guess that will be what the story will be about then. It all started when I got home for Christmas with my family. I was told by professor McGonagall not to play around with it. But being the curious little witch I was I decided to play with it. I can remember what happened like it was only yesterday."

'Where am I? This isn't the 1986 Quidditch World Cu-'  Oof!

I turned around and saw a large man with short brown hair with a small case in front of his feet. "Oh, sorry Sir. I didn't mean to bump into you. I'm a little confused actually."

"That's fine. What are you confused with?" The man asked, as he adjusted his open brown jacket.

"Do you mind telling me what year it is? I seem to have forgot." I looked down. I know lying is wrong, but how can I possibly tell someone what year I came from. They would think I was crazy or something.

"Oh." He licked his lips quickly before speaking again. "It's 1926 Miss?" 'Just as I thought. I knew that something was wrong, but I didn't expect to have gone back

"Oh right. Sorry. Potter. Miss Potter. Pleasure to meet you Mr?"

"Kowalski, and the pleasure is all mine. Hopefully you can remember the year tomorrow then." He said with a small smile.

"Will do Mr Kowalski. Oh and thank you too." I gave a small smile and a wave before I began walking in the direction I came from. I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing there, along with all of the commotion that came from the store window. Although because it wasn't any of my business, no matter how curious I was, I left it alone. I didn't mind being 77 years in the past. I always admired the music that we left in the past. Although I didn't agree so much with wearing dresses, I wore more of a male attire. I never really worked well with societies expectations. Just like my father, even though he was of a pure blood family, he still married a muggle-born girl. My mother. I was one of the odd few who loved one of the most boring subjects that was offered at school, and that made me an outsider. Even having my school uniform be change to pants instead of a skirt did give a bit of a name for myself. Even though my name is ________, people would call me Tom, not that I minded of course. Even with me being in a different house as my twin brother Harry did make some things difficult, but not a lot.

A blur of orange was moving quickly towards me. Not knowing what it was I moved over to the side and allowed it to pass. Seeing this creature reminded me of muggle studies when we looked at what they call a "zoo". 'A Lion. I've just seen a lion! This is amazing. I do wonder what made it run. They don't normally back down from something that invades their territory. And it was a male too. They only leave when another is showing signs of dominance.'

Fresh snow covered the path with large paw prints showing the gravel below. I followed those paw prints for minutes until I came across a sign that read 'Central Park Zoo'. The brick walls were smashed and crumbling every where. Seals and hippos were running through the rubble making all kinds of noises. That was when I saw it. Well her.
