"Time to get up Josh, I'm headed to school." I hear from down the hall. It's my little sister. She's 16 years old, she's 5'4 and slender with medium length brown hair and blue eyes.
"I'm up." I don't know why she wakes me up every morning. I'm not in school anymore, and we're set on money thanks to our parents company so I don't have to work.
"Try to get outside today for once. It's supposed to be nice out." Shit the way she treats me you'd think she was the older sibling.
"Well I have to go shopping anyway, but you should leave or you'll be late." I say as I get out of bed.
"Oh crap I can't be late again or I'll get detention!" she says while rushing out the door.
It's been like this for awhile now. Just the two of us, I just can't get used to it. Being in this house reminds me of them and I can't take it. It's enough to make me want to break down crying.
Our father was a very successful game designer, it was actually him who came up with the very first full-dive VR system. About two years ago him and mom were supposed to be on their way to a meeting but they never showed up. The police got involved but couldn't find them, the driver, or the car. Though they don't believe foul play was involved, I don't buy it.
"I should go shopping." I say trying to distract myself from thinking about my parents disappearance. I then head out the door.
It's a nice spring morning not too cool not too hot. I walk downtown to the grocery store to pick up food for the week. On my way back home I pass the game store and see a poster for a new game.
"Omega online huh." The poster says that it gives unheard of freedom, and unlike all other vrmmos it doesn't have a class system. Instead it works on a stat system. I walk inside the store to check it out.
"Welcome how may I help you." the man behind the counter says.
"I'd like to check out the new game Omega Online please."
"One second please." He says while going into the file behind the counter to find the game.
"Everyone seems to be interested in this game, it's the top seller this month and it's only been out two weeks." He says handing me the game case.
The case doesn't give anymore information about the game than the poster. It looks like it works with the system I have.
"How much is it?" I ask."It's $60." I hand him the money then head out of the store. "Have a nice day." I hear from behind as I'm walking out.
When I get home only about an hour has passed. I put the groceries away and go to my room.
"Well I guess I should try this game out." I say to myself as I look around for my full-dive system. It's a helmet like device that plugs into the outlet and holds up to ten games at a time.
I put the game in the slot on the side. "Start." the helmet starts up and a voice says "Starting dive now." suddenly there's a blinding bright light.
When the light fades a box pops up and asks what I'd like my in game name to be.
I type in Valos and press OK. "Is this the name you would like?" I press OK again. "Enjoy your time in Omega Online."
