You lay on your bunk completely unable to sleep, too deep into thought.

"I wonder what Hanji will have me do tomorrow," you thought to yourself. "What is it that they do here again? Oh right, titan research. Eww..."

After a while, you decided to get up and wander around, eventually stumbling upon Hanji's office. You stand at the door, hesitant to go in.

"Well," you reason, "she did say I could stop by if I had any questions."

And with that, you open the door to her office. At first, she is nowhere to be seen, but as you look around, you see her undressing and look away immediately.

"Uhmm, secti- I mean, Hanji," you say nervously, not knowing how she would react to your intrusion.

"Oh, I didn't hear you come in," she said nonchalantly as she slipped into a long shirt to cover herself. "I was just getting ready for bed, what brings you here?"

"Well," you say, still very nervous, "I, uh, had some questions, ma'am."

"Ask away," she says happily as she sits at her desk.

You sit in one of the chairs in front of the desk. It's surprisingly comfortable for standard-issue military furnature.

"I was curious," you start asking, "what exactly is it we do under your command?"

"Ah, yes, we are in charge of studying and capturing titans, as well as the development of anti-titan weaponry. I'm sure somebody's told you that by now though."

"Yes, I was just wondering what would I be doing here?"

"I don't know yet. That's why tomorrow I'm going to test you on each of the potential positions you may take."

"Oh boy...sounds like fun."

"Oh come on (y/n), it'll be fun! We'll spend the whole day together finding out how I can best put you to use! Doesn't that sound exciting?"

"Spending the day with you sounds fun," you think, forgetting you're actually supposed to answer her.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," she says sadly, "I doubt I'd be too excited to have to spend the day with me either..."

You snap out of your thoughts and unconsciously reach out and grab her hand.

"No way," you say confidently, all traces of nervousness gone. "I'm really looking forward to it."

She stares at you for a second, surprised then smiles at you.

"Really," she asks. "You mean it?"

You realize you're holding her hand and quickly take it back.

"Yes, I do mean it," you say, all of your confidence gone, replaced with embarrassment and a bit of regret.

She reaches for your hand and takes it, looking you in the eye, making you feel strangely comfortable and safe. She takes her hand back after a while and asks, "so, did you have any other questions you wanted to ask me?"

"Oh, um...is there anything I should maybe know before tomorrow?"

The smile on her face grew exponentially, giving you a feeling that you'd be in her office for a good while.

"I'm very glad you asked," she started, "there's lots of things that you should know before you get involved in anything..."

As she lectures you on her discoveries, you find time to think.

"How can someone know so many things? And what was that earlier? She made me feel so...at ease...like she'd make everything alright...weird."
