Chapter 3
Jessica's POV
"JESS WAKE UP IT'S 12:00 IN THE AFTERNOON. YOU'RE GONNA OVERSLEEP!" My roommate, Viviana yelled as she shook my arm, attempting to wake me up. But I didn't feel like getting up.
After the events of last night I stayed up pretty late just thinking about the whole situation. I don't know why, it's not like anything really happened. He drove me home, and now we will both forget that we ever met. It's no big deal. My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of Vivi's voice.
"Let's go to Starbucks, I'm not making breakfast for your lazy ass." Vivi says teasingly.
"A true friend would make me a nice big pancake with some eggs and bacon, you terrible excuse for a human being." I tease back.
That is our relationship. We insult eachother but we never take it personally. After all, she is my best friend after Leona.
Speaking if Leona, what happened to her after the events of last night?
I decide to dial her number while Vivi and I walk to a Starbucks two blocks away from our flat. Leona answers on the third ring.
"I have a horrible hangover so if you scream at me for leaving you last night I will come to your house and murder you."
"Good morning beautiful human, I'm great thanks for asking." I reply sarcastically.
She ignores my previous comment. "Sorry for leaving you, the taxi driver was impatient and I was too drunk to realize that he started driving away. How did you end up getting home?"
"That Niall guy gave me a ride home."
Silence.
"Leo-"
"OH MY GOD NIALL HORAN GAVE YOU A RIDE HOME YOU ARE SO FUCKING LUCKY I WISH I WAS YOU CAN YOU- ow i need to stop screaming my head is pounding."
"Listen I gotta go, but don't tell anyone. Niall and I agreed to forget about it."
"Ok but-"
With that, I hung up. Vivi and I walk into the small coffee shop and stand in line. We start a conversation about some of the upcoming bills we have to pay for our flat. About 5 minutes pass, and the tall blonde in front of us still hasn't ordered. Let me tell you something, I am not a patient person.
"Excuse me, can you hurry up please."
The boy turns around, and to my dismay, this boy just happens to be the blue-eyed boy who gave me a ride home last night. The one and only Niall Horan.
"I'm sorry. Jessica, is it?"
"You apologize too much."
"Well I seem to annoy you quite a bit, don't I?"
I scoff. He turns around and orders a vanilla bean frapuccino. All that waiting, just for a goddamn frapuccino. He pays and walks to the other counter. Why is he here alone?
Vivi and I order our drinks and go wait at the same counter that Niall is standing at.
"It seems we've had quite a few encounters. Wouldn't you agree, Jessica?"
"Unfortunately." I respond with a bitter smile.
"Let me ask you a question love, why do you seem to hate me?"
"Well prettyboy, I happen to know that you are very famous and I know what you famous people are like."
"Really, do you? It seems you're judging me without really knowing me, love."
"I don't need to know you to know that you are just like any other celebrity."
A voice interrupts out short conversation. "Grande java chip frap for Jessica!"
Niall is quick to snatch the drink off the counter and pull a sharpie out of his pocket. He scribbles something on the drink and hands it to me.
Written on the clear cup is a 10 digit phone number.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you to get to know a person before assuming things?" Niall smiles briefly before walking out the door, drink in hand.
*later that day*
"Call him." Vivi pushes.
"No."
"Jess, I know you think he will be like Josh, but you should give him a chance. He is an attractive guy and he obviously wants to get to know you better. Just call him."
"I told you not to speak of Josh. If I call him will you move out?" I joke.
"No, but I will stop bothering you." She smirks.
"Ughhhhh fiiiinnneeee."
I dial the number written on the cup into my phone. It rings a couple times, and then Niall picks up.
"Hey, it's Niall. Who am I talking to?" He says in that beautiful Irish accent.
"Hi Niall. This is Jessica. My roommate forced me to call you."
Vivi gives me a playful punch on the shoulder. I roll my eyes at her.
"Oh hi Jessica, I didn't expect you to actually call me. You made your opinion of me very clear."
"Ya, well I did call you, so..."
"Listen, management is giving me three weeks off. Give me three weeks to prove to you that I am not the person you think of me as. I'd like to get to know you. How about over dinner tonight, Jessica?"
"Call me Jess. Umm... Dinner? Uh... What time?"
"I'll pick you up at 7:00."
"Ok, don't be late."
He laughs. "I won't."
