Normani's POV
There she was yet again. Sitting there all alone. Still as beautiful as she always is. She just sat there staring ahead at nothing but the wall. Some would think she's looking at the person sitting at the table across from her. But she's not.How do I know? Because. There's no one sitting in front of her, there never is.
Her brown hair cascaded in small waves down her back. Half of her face was blocked away by big dark sunglasses, but what was seen was her high cheekbones, her full pink lips and her cute button nose.
I leaned forward against the counter, my head resting against the palm of my hand as I watched her. She was once again sketching something into the napkin that's set at the table.
I lived for those small doodles, they were always so beautiful. They were nothing, yet everything. Literally. She drew randomness but it was so beautiful and so brilliantly constructed that it was like she drew everything.
Even Lauren agreed and she's really hard to please when it comes to that artsy shit. But the girl had something, Lauren had once said. She was really good. And what impressed Lauren even more was that she never looked at what she drew, she just stared straight ahead and then she left.
With her cane in her hand, she would just walk out of the shop. Without ordering one thing, she'd be gone and disappear then return again the next day, same time every day. She was routine.
"Why don't you just go and talk to her?" Zendaya spoke up as she came up from behind me, wiping the counter that I was leaning on. I pushed myself up and away from the counter as I looked at the mix girl in shock.
"Me? Talk to her? Yeah, no thanks. I am perfectly fine with admiring her from afar," I said as I went back towards my cash register.
"Yeah cause that's not creepy at all," Lauren spoke as she came out from the back with fresh muffins in hand. She opened the display case and began putting them back inside.
"Listen. I can't just talk to her," I said as I looked at my best friends, turning my back away from the counter,"You know how nervous I get. Remember that one time when I tried to ask Kehlani out and then I just ended up throwing up all over her."
The girls both laughed as they remembered my highest point of embarrassment.
"It's not fucking funny!" I whined as I stomped my foot.
"Did she just stomp her foot?" Zendaya asked as she stopped laughing, a smile of amusement ever present on her face.
"She did," Lauren laughed as she looked at me, raising an eyebrow,"What are you, Mani? A child?"
"Fuck you, Jauregui," I flipped her the bird as I rolled my eyes.
"When and where, mami? When and where?" Lauren wiggled her eyebrows.
"How bout never and in your dreams," I shot back, smirking in amusement as Lauren rolled her eyes.
"Listen, Mani, all we're saying is you need to grow a pair and talk to the girl," Zendaya said as she looked at me,"I'm sure she's not so bad and I bet she's easy to talk to."
"I can't," I said as I looked down.
"Well you don't have a choice because here she comes," Lauren said as she looked behind me. I quickly spun around to see that the girl indeed was making her way to the counter, slowly but surely.
She had her cane sticking out and she was waving it back and forth in front of her, along with tapping it on the ground. Now that she was actually standing, I could actually get a good look at her body and her attire and god was she hot.
