Chicken Noodle Soup
The ice has melted.
Water drips over the edge of the bowl.
Mark had gone down stairs. It's been quiet, it's been awhile since you last saw him.
He thinks he's gonna lose you. He still wants to help you. You don't want to be sent there. You don't even know if you want his help. The thing is nothing will ever change unless you truly want it to.
You stare at the ceiling, it's hard not to focus on the pain. It always lasts awhile, it makes you dizzy and unable to think. You don't close your eyes, when ever you do that everything catches up to you.
You hear footsteps you stiffen and close your eyes afraid of what he'll say.
"Sit up"
You open your eyes and sit up and he puts a lot of pillows behind you, he walks out and returns with some cream medicine and rap. He puts something on your leg, you wince but remain still, he then wraps your legs and gives you the medicine. He leaves and returns with a tray, he leaves once more and comes back with soup, a glass of water, and a napkin. He walks to the doorway and stops
"Text me if you need Anything"
then leaves.
You finish your soup, drink, medicine and shut off the tv. You put the tray on the floor, the bowl and glass on the counter.
Water still drips from the bowl.
You sit awhile, Mark never comes back, he said he'd be with you and he isn't with you, at least not next to you. You push yourself out of bed, even though Mark told you not to walk. You grab one of Mark's shirts and his pajama pants, the ones that he sold that one time, you change into them and take in his sent, you make your way back to the bed, bury yourself in the covers and toss all but one pillow aside, he's with you now, well his scent is. You breath him in as you finally drift off to sleep.
Quiet and Still
Mark never came in
Mark never said anything
He was silent
He left you alone
You sit up, what time is it?
You search for your phone
11:30
Why didn't Mark wake you up?
You look around nothing seems to be moved
Your clothes are still on the ground
The bowl is on the counter
And the other bowl still overflows
You get up
Your legs ache but you knew that'd happen
The bowl in heavy but you carry it to the sink and dump it
You then take a wad of toilet paper to clean the mess
Once you're done you head for the shower
You toss Marks clothes on the floor unwrap your leg and hop in the shower
Immediately you hear footsteps
You're washing your hair when Mark burst in and shuts off the water
"Y/N what the hell are you doing?"
"What am I doing? What the hell are you doing?"
"Protecting you"
"Wh-"
"You shouldn't be up"
"It's 11 o'clock"
"I mean you shouldn't be walking around"
