The hard ruler flew down hard and smacked my hand. I flinched as I quickly looked up. A small, pudgy woman stood next to my desk. "Get to work, young lady." She said in a stern voice. "Y-yes ma'am" I hesitated as I frantically picked up my pencil. I started jotting down the formula on the chalk board. The desk were all aligned facing the board. The books were stacked on a tall shelf that had collected dust over the years. Sunlight gleamed in the room, making the crosses on the wall illuminate. As I finished writing, I looked over at Luke. He sat talking to his friends. His head then turned looking at me. I looked down at my own paper, hoping he didn't notice me. I put my notes away and grabbed the drawing I was was working on earlier. For a long time, drawing had been my safe place. A hobby I do when I fell lonely, sad, mad, or even happy. But, I usually get shunned by the nuns. They ramble to me saying "You shouldn't be doing this." "Its not for the Glory of God". And "Your mind is impure. Such things shall not be allowed."
Stupid nuns.
They get me so mad...but I can't say anything....
I always do as they say, no matter how frustrating it can be. Father Paul has always had an eye out for me. He said I'm a part of "something big". I really don't know what he means. I just go with it, avoiding trouble.
Speaking of trouble.
Ms. Walker was heading right towards my desk. Or was it the rest behind me? I don't know. She wasn't looking at me. I turn around. A skinny boy with long shiny blonde hair covered part of his face. He sat with his feet up on the rest while listening to music. He then looked at me and gave a rebellious smile. Ms. Walker was now passing my desk. She stood over the boy as he completely ignored her. His head started bobbing up and down the the rhythm. Ms. Walker, who's face was now a dark shade of red, smacked his hand. The sound echoed in the now quite room. The boy didn't react. He just looked up annoyed. "Young man!" Ms. Walker nearly yelled. "Get to work immediately!" She said , now looking more angry. The boy just sat there staring at her. "You should get a diet plat immediately." He said. The whole class got wide eyed and started smiling to each other. I looked up at Ms. Walker. She was so red, she looked like she could explode any moment.
"He's gonna get it. Stupid boy." I though bracing myself. But to my surprise, Ms. Walker walked campy back to her rest. The boy let out a small triumphant chuckle. I shook my head.
"Young man, what is your name?" Ms. Walker asked as if nothing happened. The boy looked up. "Yuri. Yuri Plisetsky." He said with a blank expression. The teacher started writing something. "Well, Mr. Plitsetsky, your going to have to go to detention."
