(Juliet King)
Mad? Understatement. Furious? Bingo.
Off the bat, I was not in a good mood when I stepped off the plane. As nice as it was to get a away from Miami, being bombarded with fans and paparazzi was uncalled for. I knew 5 Seconds of Summer had fans but I wasn’t expecting fifty screaming girls at the airport snapping pictures and calling Luke’s name.
It gets worse. On the ride to the hotel, Luke dropped the bomb on me that they were opening for One Direction. I demanded to be taken back to the airport. I was going to get on the first flight back to Miami. I was more than furious at Luke from keeping this from me but then I remembered I wasn’t allowed to be. I’ve kept my ex-boyfriend a secret from Luke for eight months. I wasn’t going to hold this over Luke but I was going to drag it out. The ride was silent and I went straight to our hotel room, refusing to meet the rest of One Direction. Luke begged me to go with them to Dave and Busters but I said I was tired and slept early instead.
“Babe,” I heard Luke whisper in my ear. I groaned and shifted positions on my bed. Luke’s arm was over me and his lips were rested on my neck. “Babe, wake up.”
I opened one eye first. Then the other. I rubbed them and turned to face Luke. I must have been fast asleep when he got back because I didn’t remember him coming in.
“What time did you guys get back?” I asked, my voice still groggy.
“Around 2,” he pressed his lips against my forehead. “Good morning.”
I smiled a little. “Good morning.”
“Are you still mad?” he asked.
I shook my head and closed my eyes, burying my face in the crook of his neck. “Not anymore. I was just cranky.” I lied.
“Will come upstairs to meet the lads?” his tone sounded a bit hesitant. As much as I wanted to say no, I knew I couldn’t. It’d give off a rude impression from me and 5 Seconds of Summer. It was kind enough of them to let me intrude in their business. I couldn’t blow it for them.
“Sure. But can I sleep some more first?”
“Sure, babe,” Luke chuckled. “I’ll wake you up in an hour.”
The feeling of being wrapped inside Luke’s strong arms was the most secure I had ever felt. I fell asleep almost instantly – I wasn’t even tired. I was only stalling. His breath hitting my nose and the feeling of his chest rising and dropping felt so intimate. Luke and I weren’t one of those couples who slept over each other’s houses all the time. So whenever we did, we made sure to savor every second of it.
As promised, Luke woke me up exactly an hour later. Him, Calum, Mike, and Ash went on up to One Direction’s penthouse – where the meeting was being held – while I got ready. I took a shower; blow dried my hair, and later curled it and gave it a tasseled look. I hadn’t had time to unpack and put clothes into the available drawers in our room so I searched through my luggage for casual clothes. I organized my luggage so it wasn’t too hard to find. I chose a pair of light blue, Capri jeans; a flowy blouse sheer blouse, and sandals. The weather in California was very similar to Florida’s.
I knocked on their door and a large man dressed in all black with an earpiece opened the door. I showed him my ID as Luke directed me too and he let me pass through. Sitting around the lounge room were One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, their managers, and a girl who had her fingers intertwined with Louis. I suddenly became thankful Stephanie who told me every little detail about One Direction (excluding details about Harry, of course). I knew who each of them were.
