Jade
Another year, new friends to meet, new people, and a completely broken heart. That's how my freshman year started.
Damn, I was ready. I was born ready to face the challenges I had for me. I wasn't a person you could easily spot in a crowd. The only thing people would remind me of were my glasses. My eyeglasses. My glasses which I needed for me to really see. I damaged my eyes when I was in the 4th grade. I know, smart move. Well, blame it on the computer and its highly visual skills.
When I got up from bed, I immediately played my freshman song. (I won't be telling what it is cause you won't even understand it.) I took a bath, ate breakfast, and unfortunately enough, my grandmother took a picture of me wearing my school uniform cause it was a "special first day". Well, you don't say?
"I'm gonna send this to your mom so that she can see how you look on your uniform."
"Oh, okay." I wasn't in the mood to argue so I just said okay.
I got my bag, and sure enough, I placed 2 notebooks in their just in case everything was gonna go to introduction-then-quiz moment. I wasn't smart, well I am, it's just that, I'm not part of the honor's class. There's so much time I'd rather spend doing something else, rather than studying. Sorry mom, that's what it is.
I made sure to bring my iPod and stuff that I needed as my distraction. I'm not a new student. I mean, not anymore. I was the new girl during 12th grade. So I got a couple of friends here and now. Not many, but enough. I've got a few acquaintances who turned out to move to another school so I crossed that of my list.
When I was ready to go, our driver got the car and we went directly to school. I didn't know what to expect, so I just expected the worst. I felt this very unbelievable feeling when I got there. Not the good kind, the kind when you want to go to the restroom and just stay there, because you have nothing to do but sit and wait for classes to start.
The school was huge. It had 2 buildings just for the high school department. There were 8 sections. As I struggled to find my name, I saw a familiar face in the distance "Max." I said, quiet enough for me to only hear. I was shocked! I didn't know what to do ever since-- No, nevermind.
When I finally found my name, I was relieved. I finally got a chance to go away and not see Max's face ever again.
Room 306. That's where I was assigned. Alrighty then, bring it on. Let the games begin!
(Big fan of hunger games btw.)
As I entered the room, there were already people there, I couldn't recognize most of them. I bet they were new. Some were familiar, only 1 was an acquaintance of mine. There were like 10 people there, and I heard, in each room, there should be at least 35. So, I left the room and I decided to roam around the halls. While I was keenly observing, someone grabbed my arm.
"Jade? Hi. We're classmates." I recognized her. I've seen her before. All I remembered from her was that she's popular. She wasn't alone. She was with this boy who was like her brother (based on how they were acting) and the guy wasn't to masculine. I could tell he was straight. But I could also tell that he was quiet. And that hit me. I remembered that they were from the honor section last year. But if she told me that we're classmates. It means, they got kicked out.
"I'm Ayla, this is Genesis." Of course. How could I forget?
"Hi, I'm Jade." She knew that. Pull yourself together.
"Umm.. Can we walk together, going to the room?"
"Sure!"
Golly, this was new. I never knew that having friends would be this easy. Ayla was a very joyful gal, and she's really pretty. I could tell she was going to be standing out this year. As for Genesis, he has dimples and he's as joyful as Ayla is. I on the other hand, just kept quiet. Answered if they talked to me. But otherwise, I was the demure one. Always have been, always will.
Elegancy for me was, is important. It shows that you should be respected.that you SHALL be. It's one of my most preferred techniques in a guy.
When we got there, the room was full, and the three of us ended up seating together.
Somebody entered the room, it was our adviser. Her name was Ms. Woodwork. Her surname that is. She greeted us a good morning and asked us all to form a circle in the middle of the room so that we could start proper greeting. She was also our teacher in English so yay.
As I was in my spot, I almost fainted when I saw the guy in front of me... Max.
Why? Of all places. Why was he here?
"Everyone, kindly state your name, age and expectation for this school year." Ms. Woodwork said with care. She has this motherly voice with a spice of respect.
As everyone from the circle did so, I could 't exactly process their names, I was hearing my heart beat. I couldn't stand of Max and I being classmates. When it was my turn. I stood, "Hello everyone, my name is Jade Valentine, I am 15 and I expect this class to be... Shining." As I said that, everyone clapped then proceeded to the person next to me. Until they reached Max.
I couldn't look at him, instead, I pretended to look at the others. But as he spoke, I remembered our past.
"Hi, my name is Maxon Bale, I'm 15. I expect this class to be awesome."
In that last word, he looked at me. I know cause at the same time, I looked at him. We both looked away quickly and pretended it never happened.
When we were all done, she told us to go back to our seat and copy whatever she was going to write on the board. The climate was getting hotter and hotter, so I tied my mid-length black hair and pulled it over to the side.
After we finished, an announcement was made to form our line outside to go to the auditorium. I was fine with that, but I wasn't enthusiastic with listening to a person talk over and over again about how this was gonna be an awesome new year.
After hours of dullness. They finally let us go home. Maxon and I got a quick look from each other and then I left.
