"Now. Explain." Blade said in a deep, serious monotone voice. He crossed his arms and sent me a death glare. I could feel his anger wash over me and burn my living flesh.

He really is serious. This is bad.

"She was the Praetox Queen, for goodness sake. She was born evil, born to be evil, and born to spread evil. Don't you get it? There was no other op-" He immediately cut me off with a booming voice.

"Only option?! And evil?! You're one to talk! You burned her alive! You could've just let her go and let her be. You already got the venom that you need, and that makes her weak and powerless. Or we could've just taken her back here with us as a hostage. Or you could've just made her swear on the Sky Goddess that she'll surrender to us and never work for the darkness again! Is it so hard?" He shouted, spitting out every word with such anger and utter disgust.

His face turned as red and as hot as hell. His veins were already popping out, and he was sweating like crazy. Never in my life have I ever seen him this mad. Worse part? He was mad at me for killing the creature that we were assigned to terminate. Even though I wanted to punch him so bad, it pained me to see him like this. So I held back the urge to kill him right there and then. Well, what can I say? He really does have a soft spot for living creatures, no matter how evil they can be, especially the females.

"Take her here? Have you gone completely insane? Have you seen how huge she was? If I ever did let her go, she's just going to regain her strength, and I believe that if I did that, she'll cause destruction and the deaths of millions of innocent people, and I cannot allow that. And I doubt that she'll swear on the Sky Goddess. She's been living in the shadows her whole life, serving the darkness. Do you think she'll just simply grow tired of her false devotion and surrender to the light? Of course not! Are you even thinking? And why do you care about that monster so much?" I answered as calm as I could, saying every word with pure anger and a hint of irritation. I tried so hard not to stab and choke him. My head was pounding so hard against my skull, and my heart was beating faster than a pack of wild cheetahs hunting for food.

"Wow. I never saw someone talk to Raven like that."

"Well, he's her best friend right? But does she really have to allow him to talk to her just like that?"

"He's dead meat."

"If he wants to live longer, he should stop doing that now."

"Did he just shout at Raven?"

"This is gonna be bad."

"Shouting like that at Dragonscale's Demon Soul isn't going to take him anywhere. He's gonna die."

I heard the townsfolk murmur. Such lovely people indeed. Eavesdropping here, eavesdropping there, backstabs everywhere. Well I won't really call it eavesdropping since Blade and I are both screaming at each other. But still. Just because we're arguing in public doesn't mean that they have to stare at us and talk about what's happening as if we weren't there.

"Why do I care?! She's a living being, just like you! She's no different! And how dare you call her evil, as if what you've done to her isn't! She's got children, for fuck's sake!" At this point, everyone from the guild came running and formed a circle around us. Cavalier stepped forward and smacked Blade in the head.

"Language, boy. Watch that mouth of yours if you don't want to get soaked in acid. Stop this nonsense this instant," he turned to look at me, and his expression softened. "There are more important matters to be discussed."

"Yes. You're right. I must take this venom to the overseer as soon as possible." I took off running, not giving them another glance. I walked in a fast pace, the cool ocean breeze whooshing past me, blowing away my raven-colored hair. the sunlight hit my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
