He opened the door of the TARDIS, revealing its insides. He felt his chest puff up a bit—if there was anything he was proud of in the universe, it was his TARDIS—and his wits of course, but that was beside the point. He looked over at Serenity who was peering around curiously, he expected her to say what everyone else said, 'It's bigger on the inside', but alas, she said nothing of the like.
He took a breath, walking over to the TARDIS's dash, fiddling with a few controls. “This is a TARDIS,” he finally said. “Time and Relative--”
“--Dimensions in Space,” she finished, still looking around.
He cocked his head, confused. “Yes, how did you know that?”
She quickly turned to him. “I've studied many a different species, Time Lords included,” she answered.
He pursed his lips and nodded. “Right, well, let's get on with it, shall we?” he said, starting up the TARDIS's engine. “Any place in specific you'd like to go?” he asked, briefly looking over at her.
She stood near him, looking around in wonderment, though reserved. “I don't really know...” she smiled. “Anywhere is fine with me,” she looked back at the Doctor with an enormous smile.
He couldn't help but grin as well. “Alright! What about a completely different planet!” He adjusted the controls on the TARDIS's dash, cranking up levers, pressing different buttons.
“Is there anything I can do?” Serenity asked, watching him spaztically running around.
“Yeah, hold that down right there!” he pointed.
She did as told, and felt the whole ship rock violently, then slam down hard, ripping her body—as well as the Doctor's—away from their positions, and to the grated floor. She looked over to make sure he was alright, he was rolling onto his side, laughing—this, of course, made her laugh as well.
“Alright, then, let's see where we are,” he said, standing up.
“You mean you don't know?” she chuckled.
“I never really know...The TARDIS has a mind of its own,” he looked at her and burst into laughter again. He turned back to the doors, and opened one, revealing the world before them. He stepped out, carefully making his assessment.
Serenity followed him, and looked around as well—making her own assessment. “It's beautiful. Ganoranda, 'The Planet of the Trees' in the original, native language,” she said, gingerly venturing out further.
The Doctor kept his eye on her, suspicious. “Right...” he continued to watch her as she knelt down next to a patch of flowers. “So, what would be your guess as to what time period we're in?” he tested, walking next to her.
She looked up at the sky, both suns setting, the three moons rising, stars glittering, all creating an orange-yellow glow with a hint of the pink and purple of night. “Well, I'd say, judging on the supernova of the star over there and the atmosphere—as well as the amount of foliage here, my guess would be the Xantrillis period, in around 4023,” she looked back down at the flowers, and reached her hand out. “C'mere,” she coaxed.
