CHAPTER 1
"Ellaine?"
"Yes, mother?"
"It's time to eat. Let's go now."
"Ah..yes. I'll go after you"
Ellaine, the youngest daughter of Cisqua and Marco Bravidia, is a very cheerful young lady. Her sister, Mariz, went to the Londinium University a year ago. Despite her pale health, Ellaine tried to study at home with her little cousins. She is an artistic person like her parents.
"Lady Ellaine!"
"Y-Yes? What is it, Chantal?"
"Umm..the doctor is here"
“I see. Let him in. I’ve finished my breakfast so I can have the vaccine”
“But Milady...you’re getting paler as the day passes by. Are you sure you’re okay?”
The young lady stopped from her steps. She’s not even sure if she’s still okay. “I’m okay, Chantal,” she confirmed with a nod.
The doctor waited in the room where the maid escorted him. He looked around and saw different paintings. The first portrait he saw was Marco Bravidia in his finest clothing, followed by Cisqua in her magnificent dress. The two remaining portraits were Mariz and Ellaine. Both of them worn elegant dresses. Mariz worn blue, while her sister Ellaine worn pink.
“Such a lovely family,” the doctor smiled and put his bag on top of a table. “Lady Ellaine, are you ready?”
“Yes, doctor.” Ellaine sat down, relaxed herself, and looked at the four portraits in front of her.
Minutes passed and her medication have finished. The doctor wrote the medicines she needed on a piece of paper and handed it to her. “That’s the list of medicines you need to take, Milady. Take those medicines every after meal. Don’t forget to have more than eight glasses of water.”
Ellaine responded with a nod. Her eyes read the list quickly. “Chantal, please tell Eric that I’ll be needing these medicines before lunch.”
“Yes, Milady”
Chantal went to the garden, searched for Eric, and told him the medicine needed.
“Wow, what’s with this medicines?” he asked.
“I don’t know. Lady Ellaine asked for them. It’s um...for her..you know”
“I see. Where is she right now?”
“At her room I guess. She’s resting for a while. She has some horseback riding practice later with Lady Julienne.”
Eric took his bike and waved his hand. “Tell her I’ll be back in no time!”
“Ah..yes sure sure,” with a slight chuckle, the maid in her early 40s waved her hand at him, telling Eric to be careful.
Chantal walked to Ellaine’s room with a tray of lemon tea and slice of cake. Before she could even touch the doorknob, her hands felt a cold, unusual feeling. Panic filled her body and she immediately opened the door.
“Lady Ellaine?!”
“Oh...it’s you, Chantal...”
“W-What on earth..?!”
“Chantal! D-Don’t...keep quiet! Please!”
The maid’s eyes grew in horror. What she saw is the Ellaine she’s always expecting. This time, Ellaine changed. Her hands covered in blood, her body full of scratch, and her dress torn. Her bare thighs showed scratches and shallow wounds. Chantal stepped back -- inch by inch -- but as she step back, Ellaine moved forward. Suddenly, a tear fell from her eye.
“Chantal! Listen to me!”
“L-Lady Ellaine...w-what happened to you?”
“I don’t know...I don’t know Chantal!”
Ellaine covered her face and cried. This side of me...is a monster. Minutes passed and her wounds started to disappear slowly.
“Look! Your wounds...they’re disappearing! But Lady Ellaine..please tell me how this thing happened.”
“It’s a long story Chantal. A long, long story.”
