(Mitch's POV)
"Shit, shit, shit..." I kept mumbling as I carried an unconscious Kirstie out of the restaurant.
I rushed to my car and put Kirstie in the back seat.
I jumped in the drivers seat and sped off to the hospital.
"M-M-Mitch..." I heard Kirstie voice say, but it was weak.
"Shhh. Kirstie, it's okay. I'm taking you to the hospital. You're gonna be okay." I said.
"It h-hurts..." She said and her eyes began to shut.
"N-No! Kirstie, please try to stay away, okay? Please, Kist, try goddamit!" I screamed, which was no use.
She still ends up drifting into slumber.
"Dammit!" I screamed and hit the steering wheel.
I increased my speed and within 5 minutes, I arrived at the hospital.
I jumped out of the car and grabbed Kirstie then rushed into the hospital.
"Help, help! Can someone please help me?! My best friend was shot!" I yelled and two nurses came out with a stretcher and put Kirstie on it.
I tried to follow them, but then a lady stopped me.
"Excuse me, sir. You can't go back there. Could please fill out this form?" She asked and handed me a clipboard with papers on it.
I nodded in response and headed over to the waiting room. Then I realized that my clothes and hands were covered in blood.
I sighed.
As I was finishing filling out the forms, I see Scott, Avi, Kevin, and Esther rush to the front desk.
"Guys!" I say as I get up to give the papers to the front desk lady.
"Where is she?" Scott asked as we walked to the waiting room.
"They took her in the back but they won't let any of us go back there." I said and sat down.
Scott huffed and plopped into the chair beside me.
"Hey," I started as I put my hand in Scott's shoulder because he look very upset, but I understand completely.
"It's gonna be okay. Kirstie's gonna be okay." I said and he look at me and smiled.
"Thanks for being here, Mitch." I nodded.
"Of course!" I responded.
After a couple of hours, Scott told us all to go home and rest because we've all been through today. Everyone agreed and went home but me.
"Scott, I wanna see Kirstie." I whined.
"I know. You can come back tomorrow." He said.
I sighed.
"But I'm not even tired!" I whined, and sure enough, I yawed.
Scott chuckled.
"Mitch, I'm gonna be fine. You should go home and get some rest. You can come back first thing tomorrow." Scott said and I finally gave in.
"Uhhgg! Fine, you win." I said and sighed.
"Text me and keep me updated, okay?"
"Of course." Scott said and gave me a hug.
I stood up.
"Bye Scotty! See you tomorrow." I said and walked off.(Scott's POV)
About fifteen minutes after Mitch left, a nurse walked into the waiting room.
"Friends and family of Kirstin Maldonado." She said and I rushed over to her.
"Okay, I'm sorry to tell you that Miss. Maldonado has fallen into a coma."
My mouth fell open.
It felt like the world stopped.
"Sir? Sir, are you alright? Sir?" I could hear the nurses voice, but it was faint.
My vision got blurry.
I felt like I was in a dream.
"Sir!"
I was suddenly brought back into reality and looked at the nurse.
"Sir? Are you alright?" She asked, once again.
I nodded in response.
"Okay, would you like to see her?" She asked.
I nodded, again.
The fairly tall nurse led me down the hospital hall.
She stopped at room 678 and opened the door.
"Thank you." I said and she smiled.
The nurse left and I walked into the room.
There, I saw a pale Kirstie laying there, unconscious.
She had wires that connected her to machines and tubes in her nose.
I sighed and sat down in a chair beside her.
I grabbed her small, cold hand.
I had heard that people in comas can hear you if you talk to them.
Worth a shot I guess.
"K-Kirstie..." I started, on the verge of tears.
"I'm so sorry that this had to happen to you. I'm sorry that I could save you. I really wish that this happened to me and not you. I love you so much and I hope you can hear me. I love you with all my heart and I miss you so so so much." I said and let a couple of tears flow down my face.
I wiped them away.
I really hope she wakes up soon...(Kirstie's POV)
Darkness...
Darkness is all that I can see... I see a light, do I go to it?
Is it my turn to leave this world and go into the afterlife?
The light disappeared and I began to hear a faint voice.
The voice sounded very familiar.
Scott.
I began to hear Scott clearly.
"I love you with all my heart and I miss you so so so much." I heard Scott say.
Scott, I love you too!
I tried to say but nothing came out. Dammit!
I tried to move around but I couldn't.
Scott started to talk again, but began to sound faint again.
No, no!
And before I knew it, I couldn't hear Scott.
I kept trying to move around but I still could not.
I eventually gave up and just laid there in darkness.
I wish my life would just get back to normal.
I haven't even started my life with Scott by my side because something keeps popping up.
Is that just the universe saying that we're not soulmates?
Or is it just bad luck?
I'm not sure, but I hope it ends soon...(Scott's POV)
~~~~~~~~~~~~The Next Morning~~~~~~~~~~~
I open my eyes and winced as the bright light of the hospital shines into my eyes.
I looked at Kirstie and she was in the same position that she was when I went to sleep.
I sighed and looked at the time.
9:48 a.m.
'I slept late' I thought to myself as I got in my phone.
Knock Knock Knock
I heard someone knocking on the door.
"Come in!" I said and Mitch walked in.
"Hey Scotty." He said.
"Hi Mitchy." I said and stood up to hug him.
"How are you?" He asked me.
"Okay, I guess..." I said as we both sat down.
"So, did they ever get news about Kirst?"
Oh shit.
I haven't told Mitch.
I sighed.
"Mitch, I'm sorry I forgot to tell you last night, but... Kirstie has fallen into a coma."
It looked like he just saw a ghost.
He looked away and a couple of tears escaped his eyes.
"So, um, do they know when she'll wake up?"
I shook my head.
"They don't know anything. They said that it could be today and it could be months, even years!"
Mitch shook his head.
"I can't believe this. I hate Jeremy so much."
I nodded in agreement.
"I'm so glad that bastard is in prison." I said.
Mitch nodded.
We both sat in a comfortable silence for about ten minutes, then Avi and Kevin walked in.
I told them about Kirstie and they were also very upset.
I hope she wakes up soon.~~~One Week After Finding Out Kirstie's Coma~~~
It's been one week since Kirstie's accident.
The only time I've left this hospital room is to go to the cafeteria to get food, which wasn't very often, or to go to the bathroom.
"Scott, you need to go home! Just go home, take a shower, change clothes, eat something, then you can come back up here." Mitch tried to get me to go home.
He's been doing this for the last hour.
I sighed in defeat.
He was getting pretty annoying.
"Fine! I'll go." I said and got up.
"Good." Mitch said, happy that he won.
I kissed Kirstie's forehead and head out the hospital room.
Then I headed out of the hospital.
The feeling of that warm, fresh Los Angeles air hitting my face for the first time in a week was an amazing feeling.
I took a deep breath of the air and headed to my car.
There, I started it up then sped off to my house.
I hope she doesn't wake up while I'm not there.(Mitch's POV)
I was on my phone and talking to Kevin and Esther then, I saw Kirstie's finger twitch.
I gasped.
"What? What is it?!" Esther asked ,concerned.
"K-K-Kirstie! Her finger moved!" I said and pointed to the unconscious girl.
The three of us stared at her in silence for the next five minutes.(Kirstie's POV)
I could hear voices again, but they were faint.
Then, they became more clear.
Mitch, Kevin, and Esther.
I tried to move my body but it didn't work, so I decided to take it slow.
I started with my fingers, I started to try wiggle them.
I moved one of them but I could move anymore.
So, I decided to try to open my eyes.
After about I would say five minutes, my eyes fluttered open and I winced at the bright light that hit my eyes.
