Beep beep beep! Beep beep beep! Beep beep be-!
I shut off Ariella's alarm and, as I sat up, I felt an arm slide off me. I looked back and saw Ariella still sleeping. She must've gotten back late last night. I got up, got dressed, and decided against making breakfast. I went back to Ariella and stood by the bed, looking at her face. She's beautiful. She looks so peaceful. The outline of her figure under the sheets was unbelievably sexy. The way her arms were still lying where I was made it seem like she was reaching out for me. The way her bottom lip jutted out just the tiniest bit made it seem like she was incontent but wasn't going to complain about it. She looked like a goddess lying there. Her figure was perfect and her face was flawless. I wanted to watch her sleep forever and look at every feature until I could see her when I closed my eyes. I suppose I should wake her up for school. I cleared my throat.
"Ariella." No response. "Ariella." I repeated, louder. Still nothing. I put my hand on her shoulder and gently shook her. "Ariella." Still nothing. Wow. She really must've been out late. I suppose I should just let her sleep. We did go through heat yesterday after all. I'll just call the school to tell them that we'll have to miss another day.
I did just that, stripped to my boxers, and got back into bed with Ariella, facing her this time. I placed her arms around my chest and placed mine around her waist. She looks so much better up close. I couldn't resist the urge to kiss her.
"Mmmmmm..." She drifted into consciousness as I briefly pressed my lips against hers.
"Good morning." I whispered once her eyes fluttered open. She was like a dream. Just, with one little (huge) flaw. She smiled and kissed me for a moment and rested her forehead on mine.
"Good morning. ...Breakfast?"
"Let's lay here a little longer."
"Oh! Shit. School."
"I just called them and told them we wouldn't be in today."
"Okay. Good. Thanks."
"I figured you needed the rest."
"Mmnnh. Yeah..." Her hands clung to my back a bit more. I felt her breath on my face and we stayed in silence for a little longer before breakfast started sounding like a really good idea.
"...What did you wanna make for breakfast?"
"French toast." She stated with excitement. I started to get excited too.
"Oh, yes! I usually don't like french toast, but that sounds so good right now."
"That's cuz I make the best french toast. Obviously." We let out hushed chuckles.
"Of course." I rolled to my other side and sat up. Before I could stand, Ariella wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms over my shoulders and weighed me down.
"Carry me to the kitchen! Onward steed!" I smirked, hoisted her up, and gave her a piggy back ride to the kitchen but not without making horse noises and bucking and galloping along the way. All just to hear her beautiful laugh. Once I put her down, she donned an apron so she was wearing something other than just a pair of panties. I put on a cheerful anime in attempts to forget my worries as she made breakfast.
Alas, I couldn't keep it bottled up all day. There were just so many questions and they seemed to pile up by the minute. Why had she become an assassin? When had she become an assassin? How had she become an assassin? What had been going through her head? How does she really think about, well, everything? How does she feel before, during, and after a job? Was there anything else she had been lying about? What will happen between us now? Will she kick me out? Will she kill me to keep her cover? Would she even agree to give up the job for me? Was the reason she took it more important than me? "It's later." I stated after an hour or two of avoidance (which included changing into some day clothes). Ariella was confused at first but quickly caught on and huffed in annoyance.
"Not right now. I'm doing school work. You should too."
"I can't concentrate. Not until we talk."
"I don't want to talk right now! I can't. I can't talk with you until I-"
"Until what?! Until you go and get your story straight with your agency, or something?! So you can just tell me more lies?! I'll bet you don't even work at a restaurant." Once I saw her eyes glistening in sorrow, I instantly regretted what I had said. I didn't even know where that came from.
"You know what? I- I'm just gonna leave." She stood and began to gather her things.
"Ariella, I-"
"No. I don't want to hear it."
"Ariella, please-" she slammed the door on her way out, "...wait..." I heard her motorcycle speed off and that angered me for some reason. "You know what? Fine. If she wants to run off, she can run off. It's none of my business. I'll just do my school work." But it was my business. She was driving a motorcycle of all things with her vision obstructed. In her state, she probably didn't put a helmet on either. After half an hour or so of being frustrated with homework, I decided to walk downtown. It was far, but I had walked further.
I walked around for a while downtown, just generally brooding, when I happened upon three girls ganging up upon one, familiar, frizzy-haired girl in an alley.
"So, I've seen you hanging around some cute new guy in school."
"I'll bet you had to pay him to stay by your side."
"Oh, she probably did! Hahahahahahaha!"
"With what money though? How would you get any money, you orphan freak?"
"She probably has to sell herself too, the little whore!"
"Oh, no! I've got it! That guy she's been hanging around is one of her prostitute friends."
"Ooh. You think I could buy him from you for a night or two? He is smoking hot."
"Don't talk about Brandon that way."
"Brandon? What kind of name is that?"
"You know what? Never mind. He's probably just as fucked up as you."
"P-please. Just stop."
"Or what? You're gonna cry to your mommy and daddy? Oh, wait! I forgot! You can't even do that!" The three girls laughed and my feet were glued to the ground. My mouth ran dry and I couldn't look away. I couldn't even blink. My eyes burned and my chest heaved. Ariella punched one of the girls in the stomach, making her cough.
"How dare you touch one of us, you absolute, gutter filth!"
"Looks like we've gotta teach this trashy orphan whore a lesson." The girls started punching and kicking Ariella who quickly fell to her knees and then to the ground where she curled up into a ball as the girls continued to kick her.
"aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!" A shout tore through my throat as I ran to the bullies. I threw them away from Ariella and picked my soulmate up bridal style and ran off. Ariella gripped my shirt and cried all the way home.
