Andreas Chevalier lived in Paris, France for most of his childhood. When he was 4 he began his training to be a hunter.
His family was the best family of hunters in all of Europe. At 11, some family friends come to live with his family, the Argents...
I follow Derek as he carries his sister Cora into his loft. She was really sweaty and had black blood that would sometimes seep from her nose. It made her quite hard for me to look at since she looked like a real zombie. Derek lays her down on his bed and wipes her forehead with a towel.
"Make sure to wash your sheets," I say watching her sweat begin to drench his black sheets. Isaac, Derek, and Peter give me a look and I back away slowly. Maybe it was too soon.
"She's dying isn't she?" Isaac asks as he looks between Derek and Cora.
"I don't know," Derek answers unsure as he studies her.
"I would bet money on yes. I mean.. just look at her.. that doesn't look...healthy," I explain cringing away as more blood drips from her nose.
"I'm with Lucas...she has to be dying," Peter says getting off Derek's spiraling steps.
"And how do you suppose we will save her then?" Derek asks Peter.
"I've heard it's something only an Alpha can do, and with good reason," Peter begins to explain.
"Which is?" I ask getting impatient. Is it just me or does this guy love being super dramatic?
"You know normal wolves never abandon an injured member of the pack; they care for it. They bring it food from a kill and regurgitate it into the mouth of the injured wolf. They even give it physical and emotional comfort by intensely grooming it. In a way, they can do more than just ease pain. They can be instrumental in healing their own," Peter finishes explaining.
"Are you saying we have to do that or can you just get to the point already?" I ask sarcastically. This guy really knows how to demand attention. Ugh.
"I'm telling you... I've heard it's possible." This guy...
"How?" Derek asks. Did he really understand that nonsense?
"It's the spark of power that makes an Alpha. When you take her pain, she draws on the power that provides you with those special gifts. The power that heightens your senses, your strength. The power that transforms your body. As an Alpha, you have that bit of extra, that spark intensifies the color of your eyes from a cold blue into a searing red," Peter goes on again. I'm pretty sure everyone understands except me, so I stand awkwardly and decide the architecture is really interesting.
"If I can save her—," Derek starts to be interrupted by Peter.
"If. If. I didn't say that it works every time. It could easily kill you."
"How do I do it? By taking her pain?" Derek asks.
"And then some. Because there's a cost."
Derek began to prepare after Peter told him how it was done. "Are you sure you want to do this? To lose your power to fight back?" Peter asks.
"I don't care anymore. I just want to see my sister alive and well, no matter what it takes," Derek says sincerely almost bringing a tear to my eye. Wow, sibling goals. Speaking of sibling goals... I wonder how the devil is doing. If Satiné knew I had been with Andreas this whole time, she would beat me senseless.
I watch as Derek begins to take her pain and his red eyes begin to glow. After a few moments, his eyes turn from a blood red to an icy blue. His sister begins to breathe easy and relax. Wow, impressive. I think and begin applauding.
