Mary quietly carried the silver tray into Oswalds dark room. She held her breath as she could hear him struggle to breath. She rushed to his side and grasped his hand. "I'm here.. Oswald I'm here dearest." Oswalds breathing calmed. Mary leaned over the tray to set the morphine dose, Oswald reached for two more vials and nodded. Mary hung her head as she took his hand and rocked her body back and forth as she weeped.  Oswald reached up and touched her cheek to wipe a tear away. Mary looked up to his face, "I don't think I can."

She noticed Oswalds lips trying to push out the word "Please."

Mary nooded and kissed his hand. Tears streamed down her eyes as she filled the syringe. She plunged the needle into his IV. She pulled his hand to her cheek and rocked, " I love you dear friend." Oswalds eyes drifted closed as he took his last breath. Mary placed her head on his chest and wished to hear his heart. Nothing. All she could do was cry as she mourned the passing of her only friend.
