Song: Can't Get Enough by Dinner And A Suit

Chapter 11
~needed sleep~

The weekend came and then went just as fast; my break, over before it ever really began. Dreams haunted me, Taeo and my father both always holding the leading roles.

It got old real quick.

"So, I would have texted you." Nathan walked over to my table after our teacher dismissed us. "But I realized after walking out of your door, I didn't have your number." His lips tilted up shyly.

Yawning and rubbing my tired eyes, I nodded. Pretending to listen while staring at the small rainbow on my desk; illuminated by the glass window.

Nathan grabbed my books, waiting for me while I tried to remember what class I had next. Art? No. Debate? Maybe. Law—nope, that was this class.

"Economics." I spoke up, giving myself a smile while Nathan looked at me weirdly.

"Are you okay?" He spoke slowly, urging me forwards with the curl of his finger.

"Mhmm." I nodded, rubbing my eyes again. "T'is Monday." Rolling my eyes I grabbed my books out of his arms, shoving them in my bag. "Here." I grabbed my pen, flipping his hand over, "So you don't forget this time." Eyeing him with a bemused smirk on my face, I scrawled out my number messily.

The one looked like a seven and the three looked like an eight, but he'd figure it out eventually.

"Cya, loser." I waved over my shoulder, throwing the pen carelessly in my bag.

"Get that project done for class?" Teddy suddenly appeared out of thin air, joining me in the hallway as I yawned tiredly, too tired to jump at her ghost like qualities.

"No." I said honestly—honestly not caring, that is.

Teddy glanced over at me, "You okay? You look like you hardly slept at all this weekend." She quirked up her glasses, adjusting them on her thin nose.

"Because I hardly slept at all this weekend." I chuckled, slowing down as we reached our class. "I take pictures when I can't sleep," I explained, resting on the wall beside the locked door. "With Taeo in possession of my camera, I can't do anything to get my mind to shut up."

Teddy frowned, her eyebrows furrowing in thought. "You should go talk to him. He seems like he's a nice enough guy—at least a reasonable one?"

I lifted up an eyebrow, "Reasonable." I murmured, not really knowing what I thought of Taeo.

With all of the dreams and nightmares lately, it was impossible to sort real feelings from self-made ones.

Teddy nodded, picking at the lace at the bottom of the loose halter-top. "Talk to him. I'll go with you." She smiled gently, "You look like the walking dead, girl. You need some serious sleep." She wrapped her thin arm around mine. "At lunch we'll go find him."

I pursed my lips, my blood spiking with my nerves. "Yah, okay." I mumbled, closing my eyes as the sound of my beating heart lulled me to the state of exhaustion.

Maybe a short sleep—

"Sleep's for your own time." A voice spoke up, jolting me awake. "You've done it to yourself. Don't stay up all weekend next time." He spoke with an air of professionalism around him.
