The Yedies Series: Alex

Chapter 7

  As Jacob and I got closer to the door lots of people started to stare at us in amazement. People started to whisper and giggle. But I just kept looking forward and walking forward.
"You ok Alex" said Jacob looking concerned.
"Yep....all good"
  We finally got to the door to enter the real party. There was a guard at the door checking invitations. The guard was Adam one of my friends at the place .  He was my age with blond hair and brown eyes. I don't see him a lot though we both work so we don't see each other as often as we would like to. There are not a lot of teenagers at the place to talk to. We handed Adam the invites, he smiled at me and let us in.
"Cool we are in" I said in amazement.
"Were you thinking we weren't going to get in" said Jacob in a laughing voice.
"I mean me and your cousin aren't the best of friends "
"Really , he looked confused. Then why would she invite you?"
"That's a great question"
We were heading for the gift table to put our gifts there. People were still staring at us from all angles of the room. Still all whispering and giggling. I felt embarrassed. Why did I come to this stupid party? Well Jacob looked like he was having a good time for the 6 min we have been here, I wonder if he noticed all the people looking at us? Then as the final guest had arrived to the party the doors we shut and the lights went down and a spot light went to the top of the stairs of the huge room. Then the doors opened and Emma came out with her big puffy white dress with sparkles all around it. It looked like a wedding dress to me. She slowly moved down the stairs as started a speech.
"Thank you everyone that has come to my birthday party this evening. (People clap) I know you all have come from near and far places so I don't want to keep you all for this so have a great time and the first dance is about to begin."
" Do you dance?" Jacob asked.
" No not really"
He smiled and took my hand, and we started to move toward the dance floor for the song to begin.
"Jacob I really don't dance"
He wasn't listening he was just waiting for the music to start.
Places everyone for the first dance said a loud voice in the crowd.
"Ready" said Jacob
" No"
An Jacob pulled me in close, took my hands and the music started to begin.
