March 10 - Day Five

Dearest Rose,

Wednesdays. I hate them.

Just like my description of Monday in the last letter, these days suck; if not worse.

I mean who in their right mind would think of putting a day smack dab in the middle of the rest. For me, Wednesdays seem to drag on forever.

Now that you understand my scrutinization of the days of the week, I'm going to start with my day now.

I've been spending a lot of time in the cafe lately. All these transcripts and paers to review are giving me a headache. The smell of coffee relaxes me, if I'm being honest.

I was going up to the cash register, waiting in line to make my normal latte order. The sound of a bell would occasionally ring during my short wait, indicating another customer walking into the semi-crowded buiding.

I figured I was the last one in line, so i leaned back, crossing my arms, until a slight cough stopped me from my actions.

I turned around only to see you staring at me. I remember being so dumbfounded and nervous at the close proximity between us.

You said hi first and I returned the greeting.

"Nice to see you again," I spoke. I thought to myself how stupid my comment made me seem, but you simply smiled a closed-lip smile.

"You too," You replied.

I didn't know what to say after that. the feeling of relief washed over me once I heard the cashier call 'sir' to get my attention.

Today was our first conversation and I couldn't be happier at the thought that I made you smile, even if it was for a little while.

I made up the decision, a couple minutes ago, of asking you out the next time I see you.

I don't know if you like surprises or not, so I'm just deciding to play it safe and tell you anyways.

I hope you get to know you better sometime soon, Rose.

Signed,

Patrick
