***NOT EDITIED***

The whole ride home I was wondering what the hell Hayden's problem is. I just don’t understand why he was acting like that. Big whoop I am a girl! There are many other girls in the world; maybe not many girls play football but that is just something he is going to have to deal with.

Football is my passion. I don’t know what I would do without it. I wouldn’t have all the friends that I have now, I wouldn’t be the person I am now. The rush you get when you are under pressure to make the game winning touchdown. The adrenaline that you get when you dodge a sack and run it in for either a touchdown or a first down. The excitement you get when you air out that perfect pass and it lands right into your receivers arms.

I get goosebumps just thinking about it. I am not giving up my dream of playing and if he can’t deal with it, he can consider himself not even a part of the team.

“What are you thinking about Sawyer?” Aiden asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

“Huh?” I replied

“You’re thinking about something. What is it?” He questioned

“What makes you think that I am thinking about something?” I quizzed, raising my eyebrow at him.

“You’re never quite after practice, you’re always telling me about things we should be improving on or ranting to me about how freshman are stupid and don’t know about the game.” He told me.

Damn, he’s good. He always seems to know when something is bothering me.

“Thats because they don’t. They are either too cocky for their own good or they are so bad they should go back to peewee football. “ I stated.

That statement is so true its not even funny anymore. For the past four years of playing for West Haven, three of those being captain, I have seen my fair share of freshman who think they are so good that they should already go pro. Or I have seen some who want to be quarterback but don’t know how to hold a football.

Aiden gave me a knowing nod. Aiden has been with me through my journey with football, he has seen just as many freshman I have.

“But seriously Sawyer, what's up? What's wrong?” He asked.

“Its nothing really, just Hayden is being a little bitch. When I invited him over to my house he said yes but then mumbled under his breath about how I am a stupid girl and I shouldn’t have beat him. I don’t know what his issue is. He should be happy he is able to tryout and happy that he made the freaking team!” I ranted!

"He is just so unbelievable and sexist. Yes I am a girl, and yes I can kick his ass. Deal with it. " I continued

Aiden sat there quietly waiting for me to finish and taking in what I was saying.

"Remember freshman year tryouts?" Aiden asked after a few minutes of silence.

"Yeah, how could I ever forget that?" I looked at him skeptically, what is he getting at?

"Do you remember how bad the seniors were to you and how mean all the other boys were to you because you said you wanted to play? Remember how sexist they were?" He questioned.

Of course I remember that, that was the worst tryouts of all. The only people who weren't rude or sexist to me were Aiden, JJ, Alex, Aaron and River.

I looked over at Aiden like he was crazy. "Aid, how could I forget? That was probably the worst tryout of my life" I told him.

It wasn't a bad tryout because I sucked it up or anything, I kicked ass and showed most of the boys up. But it was bad because the boys were ruthless, and total assholes.
