I guess I’ll kick this thing off by introducing myself. My name is Mikayla Carter but most people call me Mia. I’m a 5’4, long haired brunette with icy blue eyes. I’m short but I like the way I look, I know I’m attractive but I would never dream of saying it out loud to someone. I live in a little flat in Cheshire, England all by myself…well if you don’t count Harry who spends most waking hours with me here. Harry Styles has been my best friend since we were at least 5. He’s 6’2, making us look ridiculous when we stand together. He has the most beautiful green eyes and this brown curly hair most people would kill for. He’s the closest thing I’ve got to a brother. I’ve never been really good at being friends with girls, too much drama, that’s why Harry and I work I think, with Harry it’s drama free. Most days it’s just him and I and that’s the way we like it. Harry and I are both 18 and living on our own. My parents were never that interested in me anyways, which is why as soon as I turned 18 I was out of that house and there wasn’t much complaining from anyone. You might think that’s sad but it doesn’t really bother me that much, I’m used to it which might be the really sad part. Harry has always been independent which is his reason for moving out. He has big dreams and goals which is what I love about him, and I’m glad I get to be apart of it. Who knows, maybe it’ll rub off on me and I’ll find out what I’m gonna do with my life. Right now, I have no clue. I mean, I’m pretty good with the piano, okay I’m really good with the piano but I just don’t know if that’s what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Today, Harry and I have done nothing. Not that that is unusual. I’ve been working on some new songs and Harry sings along while he’s watching tv or scrolling through twitter. He has a beautiful voice. I tell him all the time he needs to do something with that talent. He’s too gifted to just sit here on my couch and sing to no one but me. I hear the sound of Harry flipping through channels but one of them in particular catches my attention. “Wait! Go back!” He shoots me a look of annoyance. “You’re listening to this and playing piano? Impressive.” He laughs at his own sarcasm. “I’m serious! Hurry!”  He does as I asked and flips back a few channels. “Ladies and gentleman out there with big dreams and big voices, we are looking for the next big superstar. If you think you have the X Factor apply now and audition near you! Remember this is a once in a life time opportunity.” I grab the remote from Harry and mute the television. “Harry.” “Mia.” He mocked me. “That could be you! You could be famous!” I said grabbing his shoulders and shaking some sense into him. “What are my odds like one in a million? No way. Besides, I’m not good enough to beat the singers on that show.” He looks down at his large tattooed hands and messes with his thumbs. “Haz you are an amazing singer! You need to audition!” I say, still obviously more excited than him. “What’s the point?” He shrugs his shoulders and relaxes back on the couch we were sharing. “The point is this is a huge opportunity! If anything you get a professional opinion on your voice. C’mon Harry you’ve dreamt about being a singer for years!” “Yeah, but X Factor?” I nod vigorously to urge his decision. He lets out a heavy sigh before answering. “I guess I could give it a go.” He says not as convinced as I had hoped he’d be. I let out a little shriek and hug his neck in sarcastic affection, squeezing almost too tight. “Yay! My best friend is gonna be a superstar I can’t wait!” That got Harry to smile. “What about you miss piano? No big plans for that dream? Maybe you should be auditioning.” He suggests. “I play not sing. You know I can’t sing.” I say before sticking my tongue out at him. He returns the gesture. “You’re so good though you don’t need singing!” He says shaking my shoulders like I had done to him. “Name your favorite pianist.” “Uh..well theres..wait no.” “See! Nobody wants to listen to someone play the piano!” “I do!” “Yeah, but you’re my best friend. You don’t really count.” I say shrugging off the compliment. Harry puts his hand over his heart in sarcastic shock. “I count!” “Well you will also be to busy with X Factor to be listening to the piano. I’m gonna go get my laptop so you can apply.” I say excitedly before running to my room. I hear him chuckling at me from the other room. I’m probably more excited than him. He’s so talented. He’s going to be thanking me one day.
