Another Shot at Forgiveness

Chapter 1

   "It's been two years since the dreadful incident of the Washington sisters, and a year since the unfortunate death of Joshua Washington..." Sam sat on the bus, the radio playing on her phone. Honestly, she had no idea why she had it on. It was as though she thought it would give her some peace, some reassurance that she was still in the same world. But all she could hear was the rattling of the bus as it moved on the rough road and was not paying any attention to the broadcast.
   "Ah, screw it. I can't take this droning voice," Sam said, annoyed, and turned it off. She looked out the window and stared; It was so beautiful outside. Even covered in snow, the grass peeked through slightly. Sam smiled to herself as the bus stopped abruptly. Sam paid, got off, and gazed up at the sign before her. Welcome to Blackwood Pines!
   Sam allowed herself to smile, then walked in and to the cable car station. "Hey, Sam! Congrats, you managed to NOT sneak a peek at my texts this time!" Sam jumped and spun around, only to see Chris smiling at her. "Oh, great. A boy! This day is already bad!" Sam laughed nudged him playfully.
   Chris scratched his neck awkwardly. "So, uh... Where are the others?" "Dunno. We're all supposed to meet at the lodge." And with that, they walked off to the cable cars and climbed inside one, surprised to see that Emily and Matt were there already.
   "Hey," Emily said in a voice that suggested she was extremely bored. "Em, you have all your bags?" Matt asked, and sighed with relief when Emily nodded at him in response. Matt scooted over for Chris to sit down, and they all stared at Emily. "What?" She asked, clearly confused. "Are you not gonna scoot over for Sam?" Matt asked, slightly annoyed. Emily immediately slid down for Sam, and they shut the door as the car started to move.                          
   "Kinda weird to be back here," Chris sighed and leaned against the window. "It's the right thing to do." Sam smiled sadly and gestured to the lodge, which was in the distance. "I agree," Emily said and smiled at the rest of them.
   When the cable car stopped and they got out, they saw Mike, Jessica and Ashley on the bench. "Finally, now we can go! And I can take a shower!" Jessica jumped up an ran ahead of them, and they finally got to the lodge.
   "Wanna use the spirit board?" Chris asked anxiously. Ashley nodded tiredly, as did the rest of them, all except Jessica. "I'm taking a shower. I'll join your demon summoning seance afterwards." Jessica rolled her eyes and went upstairs to the bathroom. "Guess it's just us!"
   Chris and the rest of them searched the house for the spirit board for an hour, and they finally found by the time Jessica came back down from the shower. After getting it set up, Emily asked, "Is anyone there?" The Planchette moved to "YES". "Damn," Mike muttered. "Is this Beth or Hannah or Josh?" Jessica asked. The Planchette moved to "H-A-N-N-A-H". "Hannah, we are so sorry about what happened. Please, forgive us... The prank was so STUPID! Please..." Ashley was almost in tears. The others looked at the board oddly, and the Planchette moved to "F-O-R-G-I-V-E   Y-O-U". "Do Beth and Josh forgive us too?" Matt asked. "YES" the Planchette moved. "Goodbye, we'll talk soon."
   Emily closed the board as the Planchette moved to "GOODBYE".  After packing up the board they all decided to go to their rooms in the lodge and go to sleep.
