Alex's POV
When I got home I could smell something good cooking. The smell was intoxicating. I walk to the kitchen and see my mom stirring something on the stove while humming.
"So what's the special occasion?" I question.
My mother turns around giving me a huge grin.
"Well?"
She snaps out of it and answers,"I went grocery shopping and met my old high school best friend."
She was practically squealing.
"So?" I urge her to continue.
"I invited her and her family over for dinner!"
"Oh. Which best friend is this? I recall you telling me you had two of them."
"This is Karen, the one I had always liked better. Susan was always a bit of a slut." she replies happily before turning back to the stove.
Realisation dawned on me,"Wait a second. Is this the one who you use to do the craziest things with while getting drunk? Like when you, her and her boyfriend stole a random persons car and took it joyriding and then crashed it but you were never caught by the cops."
"Wow, I'm surprised you remember that and yes, this is her. And she also married her boyfriend, Rick. I found out today when I met her. She looks exactly the same only a bit older. She's got two kids, too."
"Nice," I reply sarcastically,"Well, I'm going to shower, finish my homework and then go to Woods."
Woods was a dancing centre and I went to. I loved to dance. I had been dancing since I was four years old.
"Honey, its fine your plan but you have to be home before eight because that's when Karen and Her family are coming over," my mom instructed,"I know sometimes how you get carried away when you dance but just make sure of the time."
"Okay Mom, I'm not gonna get carried away." I kissed her forehead and headed upstairs.
I peeked into Luke's room only to find him in his night suit playing on his xbox. I chuckled to myself realising that he was playing secretly and not resting like he should. I walked into his room and shut the door.
"Alexandra!" Luke screamed, running to me and hugging my legs. Yes, my name is Alexandra but everyone calls me Alex. Only Luke called me by my proper name because he thought Alex was too boyish.
"Hey Luke," I say bending down to his height,"Your not supposed to be playing your xbox right now, are you?"
He grinned at me boyishly ,"Yeah but don't tell ma 'cause if she knew, she would kill me."
I laugh at the smart boy and ruffle his hair,"Okay, I won't tell her but you should stop playing now and rest."
"Okay Alexandra."
I helped him into his bed and tucked him in. I kissed his forehead and walked out the door.
•••••••••••••••••••••
Just one more backflip. I jump in the air, twisting and doing a perfect backflip. I wipe the sweat of my forehead and turn the music off my iPod that was connected to the music player.
I look at the the time on my phone, swearing when I saw a million messages and missed calls from my mother. It was 8:26pm. I was late for her dinner thing. She was going to kill me. I stuff my IPod, water bottle, and other necessities I brought into my duffle bag. Slipping on a loose shirt and track pants over my short shorts and sports bra, I send a quick text to my mom, telling her I was on my way home and not to worry or get mad. I quickly re-do my hair into a high bun and run out of the dance room.
