Before my heart lets you go

Park Jimin - Boy in luv

January 24 2013

We wound up clubbing at a chic looking joint around the bend from COEX. We slipped in among the group and made a direct route for the bar.

Yujung walked towards it, her dark hair cascading over her right shoulder. She lolled her head to one side, slightly pouting her ruby lips. The bartender was there to take her order in a flash, eyes dropping momentarily to her low-cut neckline. She twiddled her hair in a distracted manner and snickered before requesting a Cuba Libre. She eyed him as he expertly prepared the cocktail; his muscles prominent under his white shirt.

After our first drinks, countless guys approached us and showered us with free drinks and compliments, while we pretended to be engrossed with their shameless flirting. Each drink offered to me throughout the night got my mind spiraling. The jokes became more entertaining, and I turned into a joker myself, as I endlessly flirted with strangers who probably only laughed in a bid to take a drunk girl home. But in that moment, I felt pretty, witty and cool.

A tequila shot later, I was ready to dance -- hands in the air, body moving like an uncoiling rope, eyes ablaze. I was clubbing like it was my last night on Earth. The strobe lights masked the eager hands that prodded me from either side. The liquor was enough to pacify the disgust I felt by the hands that were touching me, which I would've broken if I weren't so intoxicated.

"Jinju! You've got your boyfriend on the phone!"

A second later, my phone was carelessly tossed towards me. I barely managed to catch it. A familiar voice boomed from the phone. I held the mobile against my ear as I weaved through the grinding bodies towards the exit.

"Hello?" I slurred, swaying to the music blasting through the thin walls.

"Where are you? I thought you were going to help me move," he began, "it's 12 in the morning and you still haven't returned home. Are you alright?"

My mind turned sober in an instant as I heard the worried tone laced in his voice. Then I realised that maybe my mind fooled me into a drunken state all along. The atmosphere inside the club was much more intoxicating than the many alcoholic beverages I consumed.

"I'm in a club. . . somewhere-"

"What? You can't just go to a club alone- and no don't tell me you're not. Your friend is most likely wasted at this point, she might as well not be there. Do you have any idea how dangerous it is for you to be in clubs this late at night? Tell me where you are, I'll be there as soon as I can."

The events took a turn so quickly that I felt whip lashed. Nevertheless, I recited the address of the club and was told to go outside and wait for him. The fact that I had only met him a few days ago hadn't registered in my mind and I was oblivious to the oddity of this situation.
