"What?" I asked.

Antonio was still rubbing the back of his neck. I waited, my arms crossed. He finally looked up at me.

"Sometime this month, I plan on...breaking up with her." He said.

"There IS a God!" I exclaimed.

"Hey!"

"Sorry." I said immediately.

"It's just...how do I bring it up?" He asked.

"Okay, you're asking the wrong person here!" I said.

"I know. That's why I don't know what to do!" He exclaimed, sitting down on my bed. I sat down next to him.

"Just, tell her the truth. Tell her how you feel, and make her listen. If she begs, don't get soft." I explained. He smiled his happy smile.

"You sure you don't know how to breakup with someone?" He laughed. I fake laughed.

"I've got friends who breakup a lot! Come on, let's go downstairs." I said.

We both got up, and went downstairs.

"Guys! Dinner is--oh you're here! Never mind then!" Mom said. I heard a car drive up.

"Jessica, can you help your father?" Mom asked. I agreed, even though it's hard to be optimistic about my father.

I went to the door, and opened it.

This is when Celia tries to leave because of Dad.

My father is a very successful business man. I don't know what he does...mainly because he doesn't want to tell me. I'm a positive girl, but not too bold. I try to be nice about my father, but he just pushes my buttons, and neglects my existence.

Mom and Antonio don't know this but...

I have scars on my back because of my father, not when I climb the trees. He favors Antonio way more than I, and he compares me to Victoria.

Mom doesn't know that Antonio and I know this, but, he hits mom. To escape her screams of pain, I run to the neighbor's house. They know what's going on, but I understand why they don't want to intervene.

Dad came through the door, ignoring me.

As usual.

"Antonio!" He happily called.

Forgot to mention:

Antonio also dislikes father.

"Welcome home, you prick." I muttered.

"What did you just say?" He questioned.

"I said welcome home, father." I lied. He then walked away to hug Antonio and Victoria.

"How you doing, kids?" He asked them.

"Just fine, Mr. Waters! It's a pleasure to see you again." Victoria slathered.

"Oh, please! Call me 'dad.'" He said. She nodded her head in agreement.

"How about you, son?" He asked.

"Oh, I'm doing just great." He said, hiding his sarcasm.

"Good to know." He said walking away. He approached mom as I closed the door. I now feel very protective of my mother.

He grabbed her by the waist, kissing mother on the cheek as she giggled.

Ugh.

I decided to go outside and wait on the porch. I whistled a soft, short, quiet tune to call over Celia. She got up, and once she did, Dad noticed her. He whistled, trying to call her over
