Pani took a breath of relief and rubbed his forehead. He then scanned the room when his eyes were finally met by a fetching amber pair of eyes. Jojo - his best friend, his lieutenant, and his bodyguard. "Have you finished going through all the documents, Pani?" He asked in a cheerful manner.

"Yes." Pani said, wearily, while putting away the stack of paper he had to go through this morning. "Just the same old formalities, but I must do my role as the heir of the Mirror Corporate and Seneschal to the Sad Volebénénts. Everything must be perfect, everyday."

As the heir to the Multi Billion Dollar company that encompassed a lot of business, Pani took the responsibility of running the prestigious academy he attended - to groom himself for the position he would hold one day. He saw Sad Volebénénts as his child, his creation, his labor, the Mirror Corporation, his future - and nothing, he believed, would take him away from it. It was his life path, and the adventure he chose for himself. Or so he thought. And today, on this fateful day, fate had decided to prove him wrong. Little did he know, the information that seemed trivial, would change his world forever.

Pani rose from his seat and gestured Jojo to follow him into the school ground. It was almost time to go to class, and he did not want to show up late. As he entered the school ground, he noticed something was off. A sea of female student ran past him - some even bumped into him and Jojo, and didn't even bat an eye in his direction, not even a word of apology. The female students seemed so excited about something, that his presence - one that was, supposedly, highly respected in the academy, became ignored. And to top it all off, some of the female students were screaming like fangirls at a boyband concert at the top of their lungs. Pani was less than pleased, and looked at Jojo's direction, ready to release a torrent of four-letter words, but one sad look from Jojo kept him from doing so. Pani thought to himself, I should have known better. It's not Jojo's fault, he was as confused as Pani was.

He tried walking past the crowd to find out the cause of the matter. Jojo pulled his sleeve, "It's almost time for class, Pani. We shouldn't be late. Come." Pani let out an annoyed grunt, but he knew Jojo was right. It wouldn't do for someone of his status to be late for class.

----- LUNCH BREAK -----

Pani walked into the cafeteria. Jojo had to go pick up something that Pani had forgotten to bring, so he was all alone. Because they were almost always together since childhood, Pani had forgotten how lonely it could be without Jojo.

As he entered the cafeteria, he noticed the same crowd that nearly killed him and Jojo this morning was there in the cafeteria. Pani tried his best to ignore it, went to the counter, ordered the same thing he and Jojo always had, then he proceeded to sit down at his favorite table. As he did his best to maintain his sanity, the world seemed to have it out for him, and the screams from the crowd was getting louder.

Unable to rein his anger in, Pani walked over to the crowd and tapped the shoulder of one of the girls. She paid him no heed. Pani was almost pissed.

What a perfect day, he said to himself. Where is Jojo when I need him the most?

Pani mustered all the strength that he had left and shouted in the girl's ear. "EEEEEEEXCUSE ME! WOULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS THIS COMMOTION ALL ABOUT?!!?!". The poor girl was startled, but she finally noticed Pani. "Good to know I'm not a ghost", Pani groaned.

"Oh, Pani-kun! I'm sorry, I didn't notice you were here! You see, there's this new transfer student moving into our school starting from today. We are just, uh... giving him a warm welcome!"

...Transfer student? Oh. Oh, yeah. Come to think of it, one of the documents he was checking today mentioned it; though he easily dismissed that information from his mind as he thought it wasn't all that important of an information to perturb his everyday life. It was not like transfer students were really that unusual here, anyway – it was his policy to recruit as many gifted students as possible to Sad Volebénénts.

Pani sighed. He was a little disappointed that it wasn't something more extraordinary, as most transfer students here enjoy some hype - even though none was ever this bad. His curiosity not sated, he proceeded to throw the blonde-haired girl another question. "Why all the commotion, though? It only seem to have gotten worse since morning. You know, this kind of behavior is unbecoming of Sad Volebénénts. I'm thinking of giving all of you a punishment. A bit of a shame for the new student, but I think it's necessary -"

The blonde girl looked away from Pani shyly and blushes. "Pl- pleas- please no, Pani-kun. It's just that we are all so excited to see him. Yo- you see, he's so cool, handsome, smart, an- and-and... well- well he's perfect!"

"...Hmph. Is that so?" Girls really are all such simple beings, Pani thought to himself. Pani sighed, and he thanked the female student who seemed like she cannot wait to get back to fangirling.

After lunch break, as he was returning to his class, Pani caught sight of the same crowd in the hall way. Tired of dealing with the fangirls, he decided to take another route. As he turned his back on the crowd, he suddenly remembered that he almost got killed this morning, and his disciplinary, perfectionist peeves kicked in. What am I doing, being a disgrace to the Mirror Corporation? I must be able to handle any situation, and not turn my back on it!

Pani grumbled. He really wished that Jojo was still here with him, so he can push through the crowd with ease. Pani struggled to get past the crowd, half tackling all the girls that were, sadly, usually half a feet taller than him. After what seemed to be the longest fight of his life, he finally found the exit in the fangirls ocean.

Pani's jaw nearly fell onto the floor when he saw what beyond the human ocean was. There stood a tall, slender man with the most exquisite feature Pani had ever laid eyes on. He had straight raven-colored hair; a bit disheveled long enough to reach the edge of his eyes. And as if on cue, the transfer student turned around and their eyes meet. Pani couldn't take his eyes off the beautiful, sharp pair of amethyst eyes, shielded by a pair of glasses.

And that was when he first met the transfer student – Tezu.
