You and Oikawa sat quietly in the back of a coffee shop. It was a dull Sunday morning and the rain had just ceased. The sunlight was starting to beam through the pale grey clouds and there was a faint patting sound of the rain dripping onto the side of the building from the roof. Strong scents of coffee lingered throughout the old shop and a calming quietness had taken over since there had only been a handful of other people in the shop with you.
Oikawa's head rested on your shoulder, your hand wrapped around the handle of your mug filled with your favorite blend of caffeine goodness. The faint sound of a an old tune played softly in the back while you two relaxed together. It was, indeed, a perfect moment.
But it was also a rough time for you which made it stressful. The dark memory came back to haunt you often after it happened and both you and Iwaizumi promised each other not to speak of it to your significant others. You let out a soft sigh and felt Tooru reach his hand over to your free one, lacing his fingers with yours. You looked down at him and smiled apologetically without noticing, your smile was sorrowful and regretful. You didn't mean to show this but Tooru was puzzled by it.
"What's wrong, (Name-chan)?" He called out in a confused tone.
You shook your head and gave him a brighter smile, "sorry. I was just kind of daydreaming."
"Okay, sweetie. Are you finished with your coffee?"
"Not quite, I'll be done in a few minutes."
You smiled gently at him and turned to finish your coffee, your gaze wandering back to the window where you could see the raindrop covered greenery. As you stared into the fading grey clouds, your smiled faded as well. Tooru treated you so well and you were so angry with yourself for kissing Iwaizumi. As you continued to think, the memory began to flood your mind again...
You and Iwaizumi had been sitting outside the gym after practice and telling silly jokes to each other. After a particular inside joke, you both laughed a little and stared into each others eyes for a moment. The way he stared into your (e/c) eyes made you melt under his gaze. He brought his hand up to your cheek and continued to lean in, stopping as your lips were mere centimeters apart as if he was asking for your permission. Without thinking, you pressed your lips to his and you began to share a pretty intimate kiss together. Things around you were fading and you were both concentrating on the movement of the other's lips. Suddenly, voices could be heard from the other side of the gym door and you both pulled away quickly, looking down at your laps while breathing a little hard. That was a mistake.
You shook yourself from the thought, a deep frown adorning your gentle features, but the movement from Tooru shifting his body made you quickly change the expression on your face. Your guilty conscience was keeping you from doing anything but have the painful memory replay in your mind over and over again. The thought of confessing crossed your mind, but you weren't ready for anything like that yet. It would hurt Tooru and the fact that you even did it hurt you too. It was a stupid mistake.
"Hey, Tooru. I'm ready to go now." You said, squeezing his hand a little.
"Alrighty honey, I have a surprise for you!" He said with a grin and helped you out of the booth. "The weather is being a little mean right now, but don't worry. I'm still going to do it just for you." He said kindly and led you out of the small cafe.
You both walked along a long stone path in the middle of the park, it being empty because of the rain, the path led you to a gazebo with large flowers and shrubs growing around it but they were trimmed and well kept to prevent them from growing around the steps. He carefully led you up and stood in the middle with you, embracing you into his arms and starting to rock you side to side gently.
"You know I love you, don't you?" Tooru whispered lovingly into your ear and you nodded while resting your head on his chest, relaxing in his strong arms that were often wrapped around you.
"Well...(Name). I want you to make a promise, okay?"
You lifted your head and gave him a confused look, not understanding what he meant by that and he chuckled at the confusion on your face.
"Promise me you'll marry me when we're ready? Can you do that?" He asked softly and pulled a small box out of his pocket. "A promise ring...promise yourself to me."
You stared in disbelief and your eyes started to well up with tears, and you gave him a small nod. You held your hand out to him and he slipped the ring onto your small finger. It was a silver band with two diamond hearts on it, your names being in the space between the hearts. '(Name) & Tooru'
"Perfect fit." He chuckled and looked at your face that was covered with tears, "oh honey, why are you crying? You're happy?" He used his thumbs to wipe the tears from your eyes and held your face in his hands.
"I want to hear you say it. Tell me you're promising yourself to me."
You stared into his eyes and felt your cheeks heat up a little, knowing you'd choke up on your words. "I...I pr-...promise myself t-to you Tooru. I love you." You mumbled and he smiled wider, pressing his lips to yours for a few seconds.
"Goodness, you're so cute (Name-chan)! You're going to give me a heart attack..." He teased and clutched his heart, holding his hand up to his forehead as if he was swooning and lovestruck. "My little girl is going to kill me because she's so cute! Oh how it hurts!"
You just giggled and smiled as you watched him goof around although in the back of your mind...
You knew you had to come clean sooner or later.
