Beth -

"Hello?" I asked, holding my phone to my ear. I still had my tired eyes closed, just listening to the voice on the other side.

"Oh good your up. You have ten minutes to get ready," A familiar voice ordered.

"Ten minutes? Why? What are we doing?" I yawned, resting my heavy head on my arm.

"School, Beth. We are going to school," Megan said with almost no expression in her words what so ever.

"Shit," I cursed, instantly jumping out of bed, making me go light headed. I ran to my wardrobe pulling out a pair of black leggings (hopefully not the see-though pair) and my oversized blue ombre vest top. I gave my light brown hair a quick brush before tying it up in a messy ponytail. I applied my mascara and quickly gave my face a quick dusting of powder. I slipped on my white converse and grabbed my shoulder brown leather bag and running downstairs. My phone was ringing once again.

"Hello?" I asked, out of breath from rushing to get ready.

"Where the hell are you? I'm on my own, looking like a jackass waiting for you," Megan sighed.

"I'm leaving now!" I moan, taking an apple from the fruit bowl in my kitchen. I hung up on Megan and kissed my Dad goodbye. I started to walk down the road to meet Megan at our designated spot. I saw her sitting on the bench fiddling with her phone.

"Yo," I greeted, pushing her shoulder slightly.

"Finally," She replied, standing up rearranging her skirt and bag.

"Your very dressy for school," I spoke, walking down the road by Megan's side.

"First day, Beth. You have to look good on the first day," Megan replied, looking at my outfit up and down turning her nose up at it. "You need to come shopping with me after school. We have been invited to a party Saturday,"

"We? Or you?" I ask, stopping at a crossing.

"Me, but your my plus one," Megan replied proudly.

"Great," I muttered. It was typical really. I wasn't the most popular girl in school. I wasn't the prettiest either. If anything, I was lucky to have Megan as a best friend because she gets invited to all the parties and then brings me with her. I never get an actual invite from someone. We carried on walking, having small talk on the way. Every so often she would push her strawberry blonde hair behind her shoulder, carrying on with her pointless conversation. Approaching school made my stomach turn. Ever since I had started high school, I had dreaded coming into school. Not because of the teachers and boring classes, but because of the constant judging that girls do and the non stop gossip that gets spread around. That is the reason why I associate school with hell.

"Beth?" Megan said, opening the heavy doors leading into the main office.

"Oh what? Sorry, I was daydreaming," I replied. I looked around and saw everyone opening their lockers, putting new books in them. The school seemed more crowded then usual.

"I asked what you was going to wear on Saturday?" Megan repeated, opening her locker. I copied her actions opening mine also. I placed my science text book, my french and Spanish dictionaries and my english text book inside my small locker. I looked at the pictures I had stuck on the inside of the door. There were pictures of my mum before she left us, pictures of me and Mason when we were younger, one picture of me and Megan that we took when we was 11, and one picture that I really loved. It was of me and George. We was at Hannah's birthday party and it was the first time we met. We both looked younger, even though it was only taken months ago. I admired the smiles that were pulled in the picture. How George was kissing my cheek even though we had just met. I guess that's why I really liked him. He was confident yet kind and caring. He never hurt anyone's feelings. I shut my locker, seeing the familiar gorgeous face that I wasn't ever tired off. He was lent up against the locker next to mine, smiling at me.

"Hey babe," He greeted, pulling me in for a kiss. Once we pulled away, he finished his sentence. "Sorry I haven't spoken to you in the last couple of weeks of summer. I went to Canada with my aunt and uncle," He apologized, wrapping his large arms around my tiny waist. I smiled, wrapping my small arms around his neck, getting lifted of the ground. "It's okay," I whispered into his shoulder.

"Once you too have stopped canoodling, we have a class to get to," Megan interrupted. She pulled me away from George. I waved goodbye, following my best friend's lead.

"What's wrong?" I asked since her mood had changed from this morning to now.

"Nothing. I just don't know what you see in that boy. He's a complete tool," She spat, rushing into the classroom to get good seats.

"Why would you say that?" I asked. Her tone of voice had gotten stern and her facial expression was angered.

"I just heard he didn't just go to Canada to visit his aunt and uncle," Megan claimed, sitting at a free desk. My heart dropped at the words she just said. I sat down at the desk next to her, thinking about what Megan had just said. George would never cheat on me would he? No. He's too nice to do anything like that. Right?
