When Anastasia woke up she was in her bed. Looking over she found Louis' side to be empty, as per usual. It was a rare occasion that she woke up with his arms around her. She didn't mind though, he always came back to her. He had planted a seed inside of her that grew. Now she was taking roots in her new home, and there was nowhere else she would rather be. She finally had the one thing that she had lacked as a child. She finally had a family.

Slipping out of bed she cringed when her feet touched the cold floor. She would have to talk to Lou about getting heated floors. Then she really would be living the life.

Making her way down share to the kitchen she couldn't help but think of the life that a child could have here. Wondering if she could even be a mother. It was strange, and she had no idea how these thoughts came to be rooted in her mind, but they were coming back.

The though of a child scared her more than anything else that the world could throw at her. She never wanted to be the mother that she had, the one that gave her away without a second thought. Her mother was the cause of all the turmoil that she had been through. That fat man who took her in, the one that kept her naked and locked in the small cement room without even a bed. Her mother was the reason that as a child the only time she saw the park, or went on a walk was when there was a prospective buyer who wanted to own her, use her. She did realize that without going through seven years of that torture, Louis wouldn't have ever found her.

She never wanted to be like her. If she had a child she swore to care for them, love them. Louis would be a good father she just knew it. He was always happy, always caring. He wouldn't just be a good father he would be perfect.

Her distracted mind was brought back to Earth when she saw a note on the fridge.

"Back around 12:30, don't wait up for lunch. I left breakfast on the table. Love you." Anastasia smiled as she read the note to herself. She traced the small heart he had drawn in pen on the paper.

He said not to wait up, and to have lunch without him, but he should know better than that. She was going to get lunch for both of them; he deserved something special after everything he had done for her.

She smiled when she sat down at the table. Laid out in front of her was a plate of red velvet waffles. Louis always tried to incorporate red velvet into everything because it was her favorite. That was why she loved him; he cared about the little things.

After breakfast she grabbed her wallet and headed out to get lunch. She left her car parked idly in the driveway. She liked walking on days like this. The sun on her skin, warming her the soft breeze on her face it was all so comforting. She loved the summers because she and Louis got to come here, to their beach house in Cornwall. Being outside she felt that perhaps she could make up the lost time that she had spent in the dark dungeon of a room.

She would go to the fish market; they always had delicious fresh fish, one of Louis' favorites. Her favorite part of shopping at the fish market was being able to walk on the dock and watch all the boats go buy. She always wanted to spend an afternoon on a sailboat; there was something oddly romantic about it.

It was about a fifteen-minute walk to the market, and she enjoyed every moment under the sun. The blue sky was so clear you could see for miles and miles.

She decided on making Louis a nice clam chowder with fresh clams.

"Well that be all miss?" the fisherman asked her handing her the bag of fresh clams.

"Umm, yes. Thanks," she responded handing him a crisp twenty.

"Well then, have a great day." He smiled at her and gave a small nod of the head, which she returned.

As she walked home she couldn't help but notice the knot in her stomach. It was the feeling you get when you know something is off.

Looking back she saw a black van some distance off, driving slowly down the road. She picked up her speed hoping to get back soon. As she wondered down the streets headed towards home she kept sneaking looks back at the slow moving vehicle behind her. As she turned into the steps of the house she watched as the van picked up speed before turning around the corner of the street.

Even as she watched the car shrink into the background the feeling of dread in her stomach grew stronger and stronger.

Making sure to lock to door behind her she got to work on the soup.

Her mind else where, and she couldn't help but think about that black van. Why would anyone want to follow her? That was a ridiculous though, and anyway, there were plenty of –

"Ouch!" There was a sharp pain as the knife nicked her finger.

She went rinsed her finger under the tap and watched the small ruby drop get washed away.

"I'm home babe," Louis said smiling as he closed the door behind him, "and what's that delicious smell?"

"I made us lunch."

"Oh you know you didn't have to. But I do happen to have the best girlfriend."

She smiled at his comment before stirring the soup.

"So anything interesting happen while I was out with the boys?" Louis asked pulling up a chair at the table.

"Actually something did happen," Anastasia started, "I was walking back from the fish market and I could have sworn that a black van followed me home."

"Are you sure?" Louis said his eyebrows scrunched together in question, "I mean, why?"

"Yeah you're probably right. You know I get paranoid sometimes."

"I don't blame you. I would probably be way worse if I had gone through what you have."

Anastasia served two bowls of soup and brought them to the table.

"I don't know what I'd do without you," she smiled fondly at Louis.

"No, I don't know what I'd do without you!" He shot back, "Now how about a kiss?"

She leaned over giving him a small peck on the lips.
