Now you know that I'm a mermaid, your probably thinking that it was because of some spell or curse that was laid upon me by some evil person. If thats the case, you're wrong. I'm actually adopted. My mom and dad adopted me when I was only 1 month old -they couldn't have children of their own- and they found out that I grew a tail when I touch water when they bathed me. No one knew who my real parents were or why I was abandoned at the door step of a shoe factory, but I'm guessing they were mer-people too. After many years of trying to have a baby of their own, my parents had my younger brother, Noah, 4 years after they adopted me. 13 years old and he was already smarter than me. I admit, I'm a bit jealous of his brain.

I had been swimming for about 2 hours until I noticed that the night sky was covered in clouds. I heard thunder and I tried to swim back to shore but I had swam too far away and it was dark so I couldn't exactly see which direction was which. All I saw was water and a small ship in the distance. Since I couldn't find my way back home, I curiously swam closer to the ship. When I got close enough to see the sails, I saw that they were black and it had a skull on it. 'Pirates?' I thought 'I've never seen one in my life!'. My mom only told me stories of pirates but she explained to me that they were dangerous and If I ever saw a pirate ship, I should avoid it because pirates were cruel. 'I'll just take a quick glimpse at them and swim away' I thought. I swam closer to the ship, to where i could actually touch it. The ship was huge and way bigger than I ever imagined a pirate ship to be. Right at the edge, I saw one of the men looking at the sky with a telescope and shaking his head. He yelled something to the other men and lowered the telescope from his face. He was suprisingly handsome. When I was about to swim away, the waves started to get rough and they kept pushing me against the ship, making it hard to leave. Lightning struck and there were many sounds of thunder. The waves started rising higher and higher and were at the level of the ships deck. I could hold my breath for a really long time but I had accidentally swallowed a huge amount of the salty water and started choking. I tried to gasp for air (yes, it's possible for mermaids to drown..) and I felt my body rise and hit on the surface of something hard. That was the last thing I remembered before blacking out.
