As Dusty wondered slowly up to what she would soon call her home, she felt a rush of anxious anticipation wash over her. She got settled pretty quickly, by settled I mean she had unpacked her few things in the little room she had been assigned. She didn't have to share, which was a relief because she really couldn't stand feeling that a roommate would watching you all the time. She suddered at the thought as she got into bed on the first night. She read for hours that night, it made her feel at home.

For the next few months she went to classes, read many books but made no friends at all. She wasn't sad and didn't feel sorry for herself but after months of being on their own, anyone would get lonely. She was top of the class in most subjects and reading was helping her writing but she wasn't in anyway proud of herslf.

One day, she sat in her normal seat in History of the Fairflowers. It was an interesting class but Dusty was finding it hard. To her surprise a girl sat next to her. "Hi...." Dusty said awkwardly. The girl smiled a wide, goofy smile, "Hey, I'm Vic! I never noticed you in this class before but I thought I'd come talk to you!" They talked quietly the whole way through the class and before she knew it, Dusty was walking with her new friend to go to lunch.
