Chapter 15
Isabelle couldn't believe her eyes. She blinked twice and he was still sitting there. A bit sleepy but still breathtaking, Miguel was staring right at her. Her heart was beating like a railroad train with broken breaks. Isabelle couldn't take her eyes off Miguel. It's like their eyes were locked if not glued to each other. She wanted to scream her lungs out, get out of the chariot and run to him with open arms; but with her parents sitting right in front of her that was completely impossible. Isabelle was trapped in his eyes; she couldn't hear anything except for her 'beating faster' heart. It was like there was no one around them, just her and Miguel dazed by each other's presence. They were approaching the entrance but she wanted to stay there. The chariot was moving quite a pace. For the whole duration of arriving near the village gate, Miguel and Isabelle somehow gained a spark between them. Isabelle couldn't stop looking at him neither could Miguel back. They were in a different place, a different universe and a different time. Their heart beat as one. And as the chariot surpassed the gate, Miguel was out of sight. Isabelle was still dazed and her heart was still beating like crazy. She was completely red and her hands were shaking. Was that a sign? Did Miguel actually have feelings for her? Or was Isabelle on her way to an unending dream opposite of reality.
It was in the middle of the night and Isabelle was still thinking of that encounter with Miguel. She couldn't sleep. All she thought about was Miguel's eyes and the spark that went between them. She forgot all about Juanito and the humiliation he had witnessed, it all faded away because of Miguel. It was always Miguel who made her feel great about herself when Juanito made it worse. It was he who makes her feel the prettiest girl in the world when his eyes look at only hers. It was him who makes her smile even at the slightest movement. And it was him who gives her hope that possibly, she has a chance at love. Isabelle wasn't sure if Miguel was feeling something for her, if this was all an illusion of hers. But after that incident at the village gate, there was chance. They didn't know each other's name; they didn't know anything about each other. It would be a needle in a haystack moment if they were to be together. It wasn't near possible nor close to impossible. Everything will depend on fate, the destiny that would hold them together. She didn't know what to expect, what to do. All she knew was, she would see Miguel tomorrow and let whatever happen flow as is. And with that, Isabelle smiled happily to sleep.
