When Dan woke up, he was in a prison cell. He saw a Kasai in a cell on the opposite side of the room. She was unconscious and severely beat up. He heard voices up the hall. He then saw shadows emerging into the room through the dim light. The heads were... fire tails! There was one with a human head. When their bodies came into sight, they looked at Dan and Kasai.
"You can go now." A fire-tail said. He then opened a portal back to the human's home. After the portal closed, the fire-tail turned and walked to Dan's cell. "I guess this is the end of the line for you runt. After 5 years and coming so far. It's a shame that no one can live through the trial of second chances."
"Whatever it takes I will get home and I will get there alive." Dan retorted.
"You did some major damage to my masters foot. This trial will not be easy. And since you were the first one here out of the two of you, you'll have to do it alone."
"Not if I can help it." Kasai said weakly as she stood up.
"Kasai, no. You need to rest. You're too weak right now. If I pass this trial I'll come back and we can finish this once and for all." Dan turns to talk to the fire-tail at his cell door. "Oh, and by the way lizard face. You forgot one little thing. To get that human to take my weapons!" Dan drew a sword and slit the giant lizards gut, buying him enough time to get the keys, unlock the cell door, and blow out the flame on the tail. In an instant, the lizard that was 7 times his size, now was nothing. He ran over and unlocked Kasai's cell and they ran through the winding tunnels.
They stopped and looked at four tunnels. The two on the sides, the one ahead of them and the one they just came out of. Kasai then looked up. "Dan, up there."
Dan looked up as well and then noticed a ladder on the wall. He climbed with a swift pace and Kasai followed. He got out and helped Kasai get out of the trapdoor. They ran through the maze and escaped.
