Chapter Four: Sessions.

Evelyn Brooks walked into the Ostroff Center with her head held high. Her heels tapped annoyingly on the expensive marble floors. When she reached the desk, the lady gave her a smile and asked, "What's your name?"

"Zoey Marks," Evelyn replied confidently as if that really was her name. It had taken her months to perfect the confidence that came with saying a name that wasn't hers. But now she finally had it. And who knows, maybe Zoey Marks will have a better chance in the world, Evelyn thought.

"Dr. Sawyer is in room 114," the lady replied with a smile which Evelyn returned before walking down the corridor to room 114.

"Evelyn, please come in," the monotoned voice of Dr. Sawyer spoke before Evelyn even began to knock on the door.

Inside the room was dark, the only light coming from the candles that were lined against the walls. In the middle of the room, there was a couch and a small chair across from it. Dr. Sawyer was already in her chair when Evelyn walked in. Her strawberry blonde hair was pinned perfectly back in a bun today and she wore a white blouse which Evelyn knew was from Bloomingdale's. Her lips were perched as she stared at her clipboard that was in her lap. As Evelyn sat down, the focus of her big green eyes shifted from the piece of paper to Evelyn herself. Evelyn shifted uncomfortably under Dr. Sawyer's gaze.

Finally Dr. Sawyer broke the thick silence by starting their session: "And how are you feeling today Evelyn?"

"Good. Thank you," Evelyn replied repeating the same line she always did.

"Evelyn, how many times must I remind you that shutting people out is what caused the problem. And the solution is opening yourself back up," Dr. Sawyer reminded.

"I know. I'm sorry. I'm just a little tense," Evelyn responded thinking back to the events of yesterday.

"So tense that you feel a need for pills?"

"I haven't felt that way in months," Evelyn replied honestly.

"Why do think then that you turned to pills? If it's not for your stress?"

"I'm not sure."

"I think you are," Dr. Sawyer responded. "I'm just not quite sure that you're ready to admit to yourself the real reason and that is why we are here."

"I'm here because of what happened two years ago. I'm here because I lost control over my life and now I'm taking it back," Evelyn quickly snapped.

"And do you feel like being back in New York is the right decision. Or do you feel like you're tempted by old habits?"

Evelyn smiled, "Like I said. I'm doing well."

"Then are you going to answer that call?" Dr. Sawyer responded after Evelyn's phone began to ring.

"Yes. Only because it's my dad," Evelyn lied. It was really Chuck that was calling her.

"Then I'll give you a minute," Dr. Sawyer replied as she left the room.

"What do you want Chuck? I'm not really in the mood for you," Evelyn said into the phone.

"Look E, I'm sorry for what happened last night. I didn't know Blair was going to include you in that. But I'm not calling to apologize. Have you talked to Nate recently?" Chuck spoke extremely fast which signaled that he was extremely worried.

"No and I'm a little busy right now to care," Evelyn quipped.

"Look. I'm going to call you later and we're going to talk this out. Because you're my best friend and like it or not, you're stuck with me."

"Goodbye Chuck."

This is really short and kind of a filler.
