Terry Dempsey: a kind and caring girl. Growing up under her brother's limelight gave her little room to be herself, to be eccentric and weird without being called out by her brother's friends.
Terry was a happy going person and befriended anyone that was nice to her. So, when Hannah Baker moved into town, she instantly became friends with her. Terry was used to the mockery and disrespect she would receive from her brother's friends, but when they began to bother Hannah— Terry would become quickly irritated and defend her, even if it meant getting into a fist fight with one of the guys.
Hannah soon became her best friend and the two spent almost every night at each other's houses. When Terry found out that Hannah had a minor crush of Clay Jensen, a fellow colleague of the two girl, she became determined to get the two together.
