Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a purpose in your life? It would mean that you would get direction on every aspect on your life so you wouldn’t ever be a lost soul. Living on Flaxys, you are always given hints on where to go and what or whom you will be finding. Our world is the same as the one known as Earth, yet we are very different in our ways. Allow me to elaborate for you.

Hello, my name is Mavis Cregge, and I live here on Flaxys. Our world is 500 years old and has the same needs and requirements when it comes to living creatures as it does on Earth. We still need fresh air, and we need to know how to keep our world safe, though, we don’t really have an army or anything since we all live in peace-most of the time. We have a tradition here, on Flaxys, which look similar to humans so they would not know us to be different if we were to ever meet. Here, we get markings of our future. It almost acts like a map drawn out for our lives that we must try and live and follow. We may also find shortcuts on occasion, but every path leads us to the same destiny – which we don’t know until we get there. Each marking is different for every person, but all represent the same things. These markings that I’m talking about on Earth are called tattoos, but here we call them markings since we don’t get them ourselves, but they are given to us. What I mean by this is that we are born with them, or they appear on our skin as a way to tell us about ourselves and our soul mates, but I’ll get to that part in just a moment.

Like I was saying, these markings appear in stages. First, we are born with our names, so our parents don’t decide them for us. Our names are marked on the bottom of our right foot so everyone knows what to call us and we have no say in the matter. Most names aren’t too bad, but if you get stuck with a bad name, you usually think of a nickname to cover up for it. As a kid, you rarely get a lot of markings because you are still innocent and have nothing to worry about while enjoying your pubescent life. Usually around the age of thirteen is when your main priority appears on your skin. A name. Not just any name is marked to you, but your soul mate.

                I told you I would come back to it. Yes, every person on our planet, I guess you can say, has an arranged marriage. Every person is born a soul mate. For guys, the name of the soul mate appears on their left wrist and for girls, their right. All you get to start with is a first name. Once you get the name, you start looking for who in turn has yours marked upon their wrist as well. Along the way, you are given clues I guess you can say for more guidance to find your soul mate. If you choose not to look for your soul mate, your arm remains a blank canvas unless the person who accompanies your matching tattoo is trying to find you. You find out what city they are in by usually getting a monumental building from the area or a flag that represents their home, then you get parts of their personality such as hobbies or traits they tend to have. Something will always be missing until you find who is supposed to be marked upon you because as legend says, you will never be complete or fully happy without your soul mate.

Just so you know, these markings don’t hurt one bit. It’s not like on Earth where it brings a sting with every line drawn, but it just shows up as if it was just painted on carefully and with a purpose. In case you were wondering, I know so much about Earth because I study it quite frequently. I don’t know why, but I find everything so interesting there. I’m graduating this year from my schooling which would be considered “high school” in America, and I will attend our form of “college” which is really just called advanced studies here. We have the same vocabulary, still speak the same language-English mostly- and still have almost the same hobbies. Our worlds are very similar in character as well as are very close in proximity. Flaxys is just above, or below depending on how you look at it, Earth though in a way it is hidden. The people living on Earth cannot see us because we have an invisible divide around us so we are not discovered and bothered. Hence why I said we mostly always live in peace earlier. My mother would always joke around when I was little saying that I could fall out of the sky and land myself a place on the world below, and I would always wonder if that could really happen to me. As I got older, I got more obsessed with Earth and finding ways that could link us together.
