Clarissa's POV
Running my fingers through my long light brown hair, I sat at my desk trying to work on budgeting for the kingdom. Something the next ruler had to flourish in, me.
Throwing my pen down on the desk I stood up and walked out to the balcony. How could I ever be queen? I could barely understand math.
A quick little movement caught my eye by the garden, it was Dexter my best friend.
Dexter ,or as I like to call him Dex, and I grew up together, with him just a few months older than me. He was a palace guard and had been since he was 15. We still saw each other but it was less than I would like.
He was doing push up after push up just off the side of the garden. Every time he went down his muscles pulled along his shirt. In one swift movement he stood up tearing off his shirt.
My eyes fell to his chest as every little piece of his body looked like it was intricately sculpted.
He took his hands brushing it through his naturally bleach blonde hair.
Again my eyes wandered back to his body, following the lines of his biceps.
"Riss, checking me out aren't you?" Dexters voice called startling me.
Falling back a step, my face turned red, "no I'm just... you know what, I don't need to tell you anything!"
"I will be up in a second Riss" he laughed while tugging his sweaty shirt back on.
I turned and stepped back into my room glancing in the mirror.
How could I let myself get caught looking at him?
The door handle shook and a pair of emerald green eyes fell upon me.
"Ever heard of knocking Dex?" I said sarcastically.
"Eh who cares" he shrugged, "but anyway, tonight I'm not on duty and I was thinking we could have like a game night or something?"
"Like the good old days when I won every time?"
A pouty face fell across his gorgeous features, "you said that you would never bring it up."
"Oh grow some balls you big baby!" I teased.
"Did you just? Oh no no!"
Quickly he ran over to me and tossed me over his shoulder in one quick swoop.
"Dexter! Put me down! Now!" I screamed while smacking his back.
"Not until you take it back and say you are the one that needs to grow some balls!" He laughed.
"I'm a girl! I don't have balls to grow!"
Leaning over he sat me on the floor, "you're right.." he whined again accepting his defeat.
"I am supreme again!" I smiled while showing off my nonexistent muscles, "but let's get game night going!"
As the next few hours passed we played board games, thumb wrestling, and video games.
"Ok what's next?" I sighed while throwing myself on the bed.
"Let's go visit our old tree house... or do you not remember that?" He suggested.
When Dexter and I were 12 my parents had a tree house built in the safest part of the forest for us.
"Of course I remember it! Let me grab blankets and we can go!"
Once we made it into the forest, crickets made their noises and the wind blew the leaves making them whistle.
"I forgot how far this was" I complained.
"Oh you baby, we are almost there" Dexter pointed out.
I reached out to flick his head and instead my foot caught on a branch tossing me to the forest floor with my blankets.
"Ouch" I mumbled.
"You ok Riss?" Dexter asked.
He walked up behind me, grabbed my waist and pulled me up.
"Thanks."
"Karma is a bitch Riss, just remember that!" He called over his shoulder.
"Oh yeah well I think your the bitch" I grumbled under my breath.
For the next two minutes I silently followed Dexter.
"Home sweet home!" He called while stopping at the base of our childhood memories.
"What are you waiting for?" I smiled while running to the ladder.
Quickly I flung the hatch open and was greeted by a moonless darkness.
Pulling myself up I made my way to the hanging string that turned on all the lights.
In one simple click the lights flickered on casting color to every inch of the room.
A cream colored desk sat in the corner and a old grey sofa sat against an empty wall.
I placed a couple of blankets on the floor and the couch.
"I'm opening some windows it's very stuffy in here" Dexter informed me.
While collapsing on the couch, Dexter took a seat next to me.
"There are so many memories in here"
"Yeah like when I broke my finger because you shut the hatch on it" he nudged me.
"I said I was sorry like a thousand times!" I exclaimed while punching him.
He overpowered me in one second, quickly pinning my hands above my head while he towered over me.
"Sorry doesn't cut it anymore."
"What else can I do other than say sorry?" I questioned.
Slowly I watched his head get closer to mine and right before our lips met he whispered, "this."
A tingling sensation ran down my arms as he slowly let go moving his hands to my face.
Gently he cupped my cheeks while he continued to kiss me.
I grabbed his shirt with one hand wanting more from this kiss.
He wrapped an arm around my waist gently laying me on my back, between him and the couch.
As the heat turned up a little our clothes began to come off, making the craziest decision of our lives.
