Clarissa's POV
Dexter sat down next to me after telling other guards to go find Lucas's dead body.
"Riss, I'm sorry I couldn't be there to protect you. I should of found you and-"
"Stop" I said holding up my hand," you couldn't do anything about it."
"But-"
"No Dexter! Stop! It wasn't your fault that Lucas captured me and held me hostage! If anything it was my fault because I let him work here!" I cried.
He placed his hand on my leg, "none of us are to blame here for this, ok?"
I shrugged my shoulders still believing it was all my fault.
"Hey you two" a small voice said.
June looked at us with sad eyes.
"June... what's wrong? Is my baby ok?" I urged.
"Ok so here's what is going on. Your baby boy has gone through a lot. We were able to get his heart going again but he is on machines to control his heart from beating quickly. Within the hour we have to take him off of it and see how he does. He either lives or dies and neither option looks better than the other. So I came in here to let you spend the hour with him just in case his life ends."
The room was silent until Dexter spoke up, "alright let's go see him."
With those five words June got me a wheelchair and took me to my baby.
I held onto one simple word Hope, but that seemed useless.
She opened a door to a darker room and the machines in here beeped louder.
Grabbing onto Dexters hand I held it tightly for fear of what might happen.
Slowly I was brought to a large incubator. The smallest human sat inside, my human.
Little tears formed in the corners of my eye. My baby boy was breath taking.
"May we hold him?" I croaked.
"Yes but he has tubes going in and out of his thighs. It's connected to the artery helping the heart function."
June lifted my tiny human out of the glass case and placed him in my arms.
"Oh my goodness" I smiled placing a kiss on his forehead.
Dexter held the baby's itty bitty finger.
"I will be back in an hour" June nodded while shutting the door.
"Dexter he's perfect" I breathed.
"Yes he is, but instead of calling him 'he' why not give him his name?" Dexter asked.
"Of course" I smiled brightly.
Glancing down at my baby boy I knew that his name fit him so damn well.
"Everett Ryan Winthrope" I whispered.
"Mommy and Daddy love you Everett, so so much" Dexter sniffled.
I watched silent tears run down his red cheeks.
Reaching over I swiped one away and rubbed my thumb against his cheek, " I love you."
His head leaned into my hand as he replied back, "I love you too."
The hour went by quick as we told our son stories of the great big world while watching his features and argued who he looked like more.
A soft knock sounded on the door as it opened.
June looked around the corner, "guys it's time."
Fear of the unknown built up in my stomach.
A few other nurses came in and placed Everett on a larger table. This was the moment where I needed Hope.
Dexter's POV
"Ok guys ready?" June asked Clarissa and I.
Simple nods were all we gave back.
June flipped a switch and half of the machine hum went silent.
Clarissa and I watched Everett closely. His chest rose properly and the computer beeped in a regular manner telling us his heart was ok.
The grip Clarissa had on my hand loosened letting me know she was calming down.
Light and proud smiles were passed around the room.
Without warning a loud beep sounded through out the room.
Everetts chest began to rise and fall quickly sending the computers into a frenzy.
"No!" Clarissa screamed collapsing to the floor.
June rushed to the child's side but we knew nothing could of been done. She turned to me and mouthed words that told me why Everett passed, "ruptured."
Every muscle and my body screamed to collapse but I needed to be here for Clarissa.
"Everett, no" she sobbed.
"I know Riss" I cried silently while holding her shaking body, "it gets better."
Glancing up at my still little angel, I knew Daisy now had a playmate. They would be wonderful siblings.
My broken heart was filled with a little love. Both of my children were up in heaven while I prayed my father watched over them.
Cries filled the room as we sat on the floor holding each other from the pain.
The doors slammed open as a guard rushed in.
"Sir-"
I cut him off, "not now."
"But it's Lucas! He's gone! His body is missing..."
Every muscle in my body tensed as I held Clarissa tighter.
I was going to kill that asshole myself.

I cried while writing this chapter, I'm sorry guys! Trust me it just gets crazier....
